Hey Lavitz, do you have any idea when a Facebook group for the 2017 class will be made? Is that a school initiative or do admitted students end up making it?

The admissions office will take care of it.

I know I didn't find out about it until February, but it was made a bit earlier. Not sure when to expect it, but probably by January.

I haven't been admitted here (*yet, hopefully), but Lavitz, did you say you had a collection of beautiful Cornell pictures somewhere?

I don't remember saying that.
But yes, I did post some in the applicants thread and in last year's class thread.

let's get a discussion going!...

like how sad Southern California transplants will be come winter. Has anyone visited the campus yet? I'm heading there at the end of January for a first-time look.

As an undergrad here I can say you'll probably love the campus. The gorges are unique and spectacular and The View From The Top of the hill in any direction is great.

The weather will probably be a brutal shock, so I suggest dressing warmly.

I went to undergrad in Rochester, NY - I am excited for real snow again, but still adjusting to the thought of three years back into the cold...

I visited the campus in September and it was nice - I loved the waterfalls nearby at Taughannock Falls State Park.

PM me if you need a tour of Hughes or something, since they normally only offer that during ASW.

That's right. You'll get your financial aid info in March or early April, which is before you have to commit in late April.

Beyond my knowledge as a 1L, and I haven't talked about it with any 2Ls or 3Ls, so I don't know who's taken it. You'll probably have better luck finding someone who knows about it if you ask in this thread.

All I can say is that from looking at the Fall schedule, it seems the classroom and courtroom components are each 2 hours per week. Then presumably there's outside work involved to prepare for court.

I don't know if they sent out an e-mail about ASW yet, but the dates are March 7th and April 11th. There will also be options to stay with current students, which they didn't do last year.

Added admitted students page to OP.

RSVP and travel subsidy forms for ASW should be on the status checker.

^^That awkward moment when half the posts in Class of 2017 are by a 1L.

How long do you think it'll take for these to be updated on the status checker? I'm leaning toward the March 7th ASW but as mentioned previously, I'm in quite a financial pinch right now.
They're not up yet? That happened last year too; I had to ask in the applicants thread and someone posted the link to the forms.

So I just went back to find that post, followed the link and found the forms for this year. Here you go:

RSVP

Travel Subsidy

As a side note:
March 7:
Join us for a casino night from 6-9pm where you will be able to enjoy food and drinks while playing some blackjack and other casino games for your chance to win one of three prizes! Current students will be attending and buses will provide transportation, though some parking will be available.

April 11:
During the second ASD, Cornell will be hosting our annual Diversity Weekend Celebration. After an evening reception from 5-7pm with drinks and appetizers, join our current students for a dance party at a local Collegetown establishment where there will be dancing until 1am!
They'd better invite me to this casino night and dance party. 8)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
