The building down the stairs from the Hughes parking lot? I'm pretty sure that's a frat house. So no, I don't think any CLS students live there. Not sure what your e-mail says. It would be a great location though.

Collegetown Terrace would be further away, but there would be more 1Ls living there. Unless there's some sort of "we're converting the frat house into law student housing" deal I'm unaware of.
That's exactly what's going on, actually. There was a rape or hazing incident at DKE this year and the house is now apparently being converted to grad student housing. The location is great and the singles are going for $780/month which is pretty good. I'm very strongly considering it atm.

Oh wow. I remember hearing about that incident, but I forgot / didn't realize it was that frat.

Yeah, that sounds like a great deal. It's about as close to the law school as you can get without living in Hughes (or that apartment above CTB) and it's cheaper. Plus they've got that nice backyard to hang out in.

Yeah, but unless you're going to stay up in Ithaca over the summer the price per month is irrelevant compared to overall price.

Just responded to the email. I'm doing it if I can get a spot. Sounds like a great alternative if Hughes is filled. Anyone else doing this?

Me. I just hope it's mostly law students who take the rooms, but everything else looks great. From the parties I went to there I know it's a cool building with pretty big rooms and a nice basement. I wonder exactly what Cornell will do with it though.

Is there really any difference in signing up with email to make an account to access all the health stuff and whatever else we need to do vs waiting for our netids?

I mean, it worked for me, so I don't think so. I think after I got the netID, I activated it and got access to all the other stuff you need the netID for, if anything.

Hmm I see. I know you said the due date on the health stuff is arbitrary and that nothing happens if we don't postmark that stuff by June 10, so I was thinking of just waiting until I got a netid to do everything.

I keep changing my mind whether I'll do it by email or netid. Loling at myself for things that don't even matter probably.

ETA: for getting a provider signature, it says on the check list (third Point, last 2 sub check boxes) that we should either get a signature of the provider who provided verification of the records or attach a copy of the records we obtained. does anyone know if i can get away with not having the provider signature if i attach the Immunization Records. I obtained both a record from my provider as well as from my UG so if I don't need the signature, I would be ready to send out the signed forms today.
You don't need a signature if you're sending the actual copies iirc.

How terrible is $1,000 a month rent for a 2br apartment (not including utilities)? I'll be financing through loans. How do you find this fitting into the "moderate but realistic" estimate of cost provided by Cornell?

My other concern is finding someone to sublet an apartment during the summer months next summer.

Thanks in advance!

You should really be able to do better, unless you're looking to live in the lap of luxury for the next three years. If you want you could try talking to Cornell's director of graduate housing about the new law student housing.

My place will be under 600 including utilities....there are some caveats but I mean it's not underneath a highway underpass or anything lol

I tried to get a 2BR Collegetown Terrace apartment for $1000/person but they ran out. I think you can get well-equipped options for about that price but clearly there are cheaper alternatives out there. I just wanted a nicer place for living while attending law school.

When you've been around the internet long enough, it takes a lot more than some 2Ls posting in a 0L Fbook group to annoy you..
when you've been around the group of 2Ls for long enough, it takes very little of their "banter" to annoy you.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
