Congrats! I'm adopting the Hoyas, that's for sure! Be sure to head over to the TLS C/O 2017 and announce your decision!

ETA: OP revamped (again) and new poll is up!

Just deposited - originally from New England, but i've been out in Los Angeles for the last ten years. It's gonna be weird seeing weather again!

Re: housing. I'll be looking anywhere i can find something vaguely affordable and safe for my family. The intersection of those two points is not often easy to find :-/ That said, I like Tenleytown and Friendship Heights quite a bit, and anything on the red line is a quick commute to GULC. I'm kicking myself right now because I saw a ridiculously amazing 3 bedroom for 1500 within walking distance of school--would have jumped on it, but hadn't received scholly info yet (since rectified). Such is life.

I anticipated the cost and size of DC living, but was feeling pretty disheartened after the first 5 buildings...until we hit 77H. It's brand new and the building and amenities are great. It is literally a three minute walk from campus (now the closest residential building to campus, I believe). The size and finishes of the apts. far exceeded everything else we looked at and it was competitively priced, especially for those considering having a roommate and sharing a two bedroom.

After we signed our lease, we introduced ourselves to a resident who was leaving the building - it so happened that he was a GULC 2L and he raved about his experience there and the convenience to campus. Because they're brand new and just starting to fill their units, we were able to sign a lease on the spot, with an incentive, and we're not even moving until mid-June. I can't recommend the building enough.

I'm happy to answer any questions or share photos, etc. I'm looking forward to making the move and to meeting you all.
I'm living there next year too! It's a really nice building and you can't beat the location. Excited to meet you!

Officially paid my seat deposit, and hailing from San Diego! My UG sucked as well and I will definitely be adopting the Hoyas, face paint and everything.

I called and told them about my dean's certification being late and they seemed pretty chill. I think as long as you're putting the $$ down, they don't have a huge issue....

That's what I figured. They've got my money and a commitment, I think that's all they really care about. It would just be less of a headache for them. But considering they didn't pony up cash until yesterday I don't feel too bad :D

Does anyone one of any good apartment complexes that would be close to halfway between the two schools? According to Google Maps, the two schools are 1.8 miles apart.

Thanks!

I currently live in a building called "Flats 130" which is on the corner of 1st and M ST NE. It's about a 10 minute walk to GULC and is about 10 seconds away from the Noma/galludet metro stop (red line). I pay about 1200 per month + utilities and absolutely love it. Building was built in 2010 and the faciltiies (gym etc.) are great. Unfortunately not between the two campuses :(

Btw I sent in my deposit the other week and am excited to meet you all!

Curious what the range is for 2bd each. I looked at the website but I figure with the incentives it might be a little less? What about the den? Is it big enough for a person?

Anyone know the odds of the Gewirz lottery? I would definitely like to live on-campus for 1L, but obviously it's not a guaranteed condition.

Essentially everyone who asks for housing in Gewirz gets it, although not in their preferred apartment size.

Hi Everybody,
I have been completely absent from GULC forums, until now. From Kentucky and just decided to enter the GULC Class of 2017. I hope to live in Gewirz next year. Hope everybody is having a good summer. If anybody is looking for a roommate(s), feel free to message me.

Max

Anyone know how Gewirz rent works in terms of loan disbursements? Seems like Gewirz rates (besides the 3BR) are significantly higher than what's allotted for rent in loan calculations.

Thought I'd post since I had trouble finding the type of housing I was looking for last year a small apartment building or townhouse. If you want new an shiny there are many great, easy to find options along Mass Ave.

I found an affordable (in DC) apartment in a 1940s apartment building (wood floors, big windows, corner) through Yarmouth Management. http://yarmouthmanagement.com/today.html To be honest, they have a maƱana attitude about maintenance. It get's done, but may take a while. BUT they are the very drilled into the Capitol Hill rental market, including the areas east and south of GULC. There are a couple of GULC students that rent in my building.

Best of Luck with house/apartment hunting.

Have we been assigned email accounts yet? If so, where and when did you hear about it? I haven't received anything from GULC since depositing besides Dean Cornblatt's update about the supreme court's prayer decision. Yes, I'm always paranoid I'm missing something
