Re: Judge Bibas (3d Cir.)
I've heard 2019 should be opening in a few weeks.
Anyone have any speculation on chances of going from SSC to a COA clerkship? I'm currently clerking with the former, interested in going COA after, but I lack top school/grades (not bad, just not top 10% etc.), so not sure if it's a waste of time.

Re: Judge Bibas (3d Cir.)
No idea on Bibas specifically, but yes, most federal COA judges will consider a past SSC clerkship as an asset—you know the ins and outs of an appellate clerkship and will be ready to hit the ground running from day 1. It will be most helpful in the circuit where your SSC is located, since there will be a tangible benefit to having deep knowledge of your state’s body of law. Regarding whether it’s a waste of time, there’s never harm to applying—the general advice holds to apply as broadly as you’re willing to, and keep your expectations in check considering your school and class rank.clerkymcclerkerson wrote:I've heard 2019 should be opening in a few weeks.

I've heard that he just hired 4 people for 2018, and he just posted on OSCAR for 2019.

If he already hired four clerks, why is the application period still open on OSCAR? It appears to be open through October.

Not sure, but I think he has one opening left. Originally the posting listed 5 positions, starting in September... now there's just 1 for October.
