Judge Bibas (3d Cir.)
Has anyone received an offer to interview for a clerkship with Judge Bibas?

My understanding as a Penn student is that he has hired for his first couple years from former students. But not 100% sure all the slots are thus.

Could Bibas be a future feeder? Former AMK clerk, prolific scholar who the Court cited many times, and well-regarded appellate advocate before joining the bench (he ran the SCOTUS clinic at Penn).

Re: Judge Bibas (3d Cir.)
I applied a few months back (for 2019) and chambers emailed saying he was only accepting 2018 apps and wouldn’t start 2019 until the winter. So unless that was false, any interviews right now would be 2018, I guess?

He is hiring as of last week.
Agreed he will likely be a feeder in due course.

I spoke with someone in his chambers--interviews for 2018 are still going on, but they're waiting until interviews are done to make offers.

I also thought it might be a troll trying to dissuade others from applying.Anonymous User wrote:Why is this a troll? Re: Judge Bibas (3d Cir.)
I have no idea whether that was a troll comment, but the fact that someone with those stats had an interview for Bibas should in not dissuade anyone from applying—it’s pretty par for the course. Circuit judges in big coastal cities probably see 50 to 100 applications a year with stats as good or better than that (depending on how big a preftige boost you give to a top 10% applicant from YHS to a top 2% applicant from a mid-T14).Anonymous User wrote:I also thought it might be a troll trying to dissuade others from applying.Anonymous User wrote:Why is this a troll? If you’re applying to a judge like Bibas you have to be comfortable with the fact that some of the most accomplished law students in the country are also applying. Of course, that’s not to say judges like him exclusively hire T14 and top of the class—they just always have the option to do so.

Heard rumblings of offers going out from someone affiliated with chambers. True? False?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
