I'm clerking on a non-DC/2/9 Circuit, but in a mid-major city and with a "prominent' judge (and outside of a courthouse)...I don't think we receive any recruiting letters from anyone--unless the J.A. is just throwing them out without telling us. So I wouldn't fret. Just apply where you want to work

Interviewed with Jones Day (Chi) recently, any idea how long without hearing anything that I should just assume a ding? It seems like this process could drag out much longer than OCI.

Sorry I don't know the answer to this, but just a curiousity (if you dont mind) - how did you apply, just through the site?

Any further movement? Could it just be that hiring season does not really kick in until Feb or March?

In the last 2 weeks we've gotten recruitment letters from Quinn, Boies, Keker, and Covington. Some of them are having receptions in the (very) near future. I'm not applying, but my sense is that things are in full swing.

Ugh rejected post callback at a top BL firm in my market after a long wait that was filled with many favorable-sounding updates.

Really bummed out. Thought that was my position.

We just received Kecker. Haven’t heard from covington, Boies, or Quinn, but I know Boies and Quinn have been interviewing (in new york) for several weeks.

Don't give up boys and girls. This whole process sucks but we shall overcome!

Same op. Share the one/ ones you’re waiting on and I’ll tell you if it was one of them.

Sorry to hear that, truly. One of us many FF'ers that were hopeful? (I still haven't received a rejection from them)

I just had a few callbacks in NYC with big law firms. When I asked they said it shouldn't take too long to hear back, but they refused to specify. How long is normal for hiring clerks? One of them told me I was the first clerk they interviewed. How long should I expect it to take? When should I lose hope of an offer? Two of the interviews were last Friday and I still haven't heard...

Would you mind sharing which firms?

I imagine that firms will not move as quickly as they would for summer associate hiring. For one, they're generally looking to hire many fewer people, and are looking to hire for more specific slots in practice groups. And the hiring season is not as compressed ... I know of clerks last cycle who didn't start applying until March and still got a number of interviews and offers.

The firm I’m going to took 3 weeks between interviewing and extending the offer. Before I left the interview on Thursday, the recruiter told me they hoped to make final decisions that Monday. I think the firms tend to drag the clerk hiring process out for some reason and I wouldn’t lose hope yet. Good luck!

Are there any grade cut-offs for NYC firms hiring clerks? I've been sending out applications since mid-January (typically after attending firm receptions), and have either had radio silence or terse rejection letters telling me how wonderful I am, just not wonderful enough.

I ask because I'm bit of an odd duck in terms of my stats, or so I'm led to believe. Plenty of other clerks have been telling me about the interviews they're scheduling, so it's either my grades or my resume...

Since mid-January I've sent in about fifty applications. Rejected from four I believe: White Case, DLA Piper, FF, and Nosebright or whatever it's called. Two interviews so far with one offer from a good NYC firm. Still waiting to hear from the other one that was two weeks ago. I figure since some places aren't having their reception until late February we're still early for a lot of places?

Grade cutoffs are pretty much the same as they would be if you didn’t have a clerkship.
