If a judge on OSCAR says they "prefer" clerks with post-law school work experience or a prior clerkship, is it TCR for current law students seeking to clerk after law school to not apply to the judge?

Re: 2017-2018 Clerkship Application Thread
I applied to and got an interview with a judge who said they prefer prior judicial clerkship experience. Never went to the interview but the clerkship would have been for right after law school.

Maybe earlier than she moved last year. She'd finished interviewing and hiring by the end of October, so what you read doesn't seem right.Anonymous User wrote:Is this the first time Diane woods (7th cir) has moved this early? Re: 2017-2018 Clerkship Application Thread
Anyone have any advice re: editing a finalized application in OSCAR? I searched the forum but couldn't find any information: I have finalized a few apps and had four recommenders listed for those, but the fourth is taking awhile to submit (two have already been uploaded, the third will be up in a couple days) and is probably the least effusive of the bunch, so I'm wondering if I can remove the fourth recommender and upload an edited cover letter or if that's a terrible idea and I should just sit it out and wait.

I assume the judge prefers experience (and is not looking to hire current 0Ls). In that case, what practicing lawyer would accept a clerkship that starts in four years? A lot changes in four years....love4life29 wrote:Illston - NDCA.ndirish2010 wrote:Just curious - which judge?Anonymous User wrote:A judge has posted for a 2019-2020 term clerkship on oscar. Lol, I think that judge wants incoming 2Ls with 2 years of post-law-school experience. I bet she's trying to beat feeders for HYS cream of the cropndirish2010 wrote: I assume the judge prefers experience (and is not looking to hire current 0Ls). What would it take from UT/Vandy/UCLA for a clerkship in TX with strong ties to the Dallas area? Tennessee? Virginia? Or Florida? I've lived in a number of places and attended school all over lol.

Re: 2017-2018 Clerkship Application Thread
To the poster above:
I'm a UT/Vandy/UCLA 2015 grad currently serving in federal dist. clerkship in Texas. Big city: Dallas/San Antonio/Houston. I was top 10% but not the top of my class (around 6-7%). Law review but not on ed board. 2-4 years of work experience prior to law school.
