Thanks...

The question then is why did you even apply?

Got a clerkship offer and didn't really think I would get another offer/interview, so I didn't even bother withdrawing apps. Dumb me. I just want to make sure my rejection of an interview offer doesn't end up hurting future applicants from my school.

If you already have an offer then just decline the interview. This is pretty simple stuff.

This. They won't care that you're declining an interview if you already have an offer, just go withdraw any other apps you have out.

Is there any quick way to withdraw apps on Oscar if you sent a bunch of paper apps earlier in the year? Like an earlier anon, I got an offer and didn't expect to get anything else and got a call yesterday, which was slightly awkward because I didn't expect it.

I've noticed a bunch of judges I did apply to filling up and kind of assumed that would continue. Sorry if this sounds a little douchey.

Yeah, if that's the reason, then it's completely valid to. I thought you meant like "I applied to a clerkship in city x and now I don't want to move there" type of thing.

If you applied by mail just send a letter or email to the chambers of the judges that look like they are still hiring. If they are full then no need.

I'm not an expert on such a question, but Rakoff (SDNY) and Katzmann (2nd Cir.) hire the same clerks together. I wouldn't think they could do that if there was an ethics issue.

Did they just call? Or did they call on Friday for MDNC? Didn't apply there but gauging likelihood of weekend phone calls from other southern districts

Are you willing to say which judge? Or is it typical for all the judges in a district to interview at the same time?

Several positions on Oscar expired recently. Are those positions full or are the judges just reviewing now? Any insight?

Expired just means the application time frame is over.

I'm getting the increasingly sinking feeling that ND Ill. as a whole moved pretty quickly this season but hopefully some judges are going slower...

I know St. Eve is strictly on plan, but I also know she strongly prefers people a year out.

I applied strictly Chicago so I'm hoping not all judges have moved so far. There were only about a dozen ones on Oscar.

A friend of mine has two district court interviews for this week and is really worried about getting an exploding offer at the first interview. How common are exploding offers? My intuition says that they're rare, but it's possible, but does anyone else have more anecdotal evidence?

Tell him not to worry about something which he cannot control.

Anecdotally, I have never encountered an exploding offer in the wild (but I am also in a part of the country that's never really followed the plan, so less incentive to use them). However, they're believed to happen frequently enough that the axiom "never interview with a judge if you're not prepared to accept an offer on the spot" is really, really common advice from CSOs and other clerkship app guides.

(also, what bk1 said.)
