What's the best way to update Oscar judges with information? I am in the amazing position of having secured a 14-15 district court position and want to try my hand, now, at getting a 15-16 circuit.

Send it by mail. In fact, I would just send a whole new application package by mail. In my experience, both as an applicant and as a clerk, when you're applying for more than a year out, it's best to just send out all new applications. And I had my best success with hard copy mailings.Anonymous User wrote:What's the best way to update Oscar judges with information? One more point, if you don't hear anything this summer, then send out all new applications in the Fall. If you don't hear anything, then send out all new applications in the very early Spring/late Winter. Many chambers have vastly different organization systems and its best to just send all new materials rather than trying to send just an update.

Am I reading you correctly in that you're advising just sending paper apps for '15 judges at this point?

Has anyone heard anything from, or about, Judge Karas (SDNY) for 2014?

I've heard Castillo is waiting till the end of the summer to hire. I also sent apps to and have not heard from St. Eve, Zagel, Lefkow, and Gotschall. Anyone have any idea what Flaum is doing?Anonymous User wrote:What Chicago judges are still hiring on the district court?

Interesting about Castillo- his OSCAR profile says he anticipates interviews beginning next week.
Also, does anyone know anything about the Chicago magistrates? I see Finnegan is full but what about Rowland and Valdez?

Does anyone know about District Court judges in the southeast? I'm thinking NC, SC, GA, FL, TN. I haven't seen those states mentioned much on here and am hoping the judges are still interviewing and hiring since those are less competitive districts. Would appreciate info on specific judges or general observations.

Most of the 4th circuit (COA and D) are off-plan.

Sitting in waiting room for my state SC interview. Got a bad feeling about this.
Maybe that's because I found out my vasectomy probably didn't take and I don't really want to go I under the knife again. So I'm assuming this interview will result in equally bad news.

What's the SDNY magistrate scene looking like?
I've got a good firm job but wanting the experience of clerking, and a chance to live in New York for a bit, I'm thinking about applying for SDNY magistrates now.
I'm sure it's late and a lot of hired for 2014, but if there are still some there, I'm not sure the advisability or availability.

I interviewed with a judge during the first week of July and haven't heard anything back since then. After the interview I sent a thank you and had a professor contact chambers. I also recently sent a follow up message. OSCAR shows the position as filled. Of course I assume the position is actually filled, but it seems odd that I still haven't received a rejection. Is it possible the judge is still choosing among interviewees to fill the position? Or is it not unusual for a judge to make hires but send no updates to interviewees for weeks?

Why not call chambers and ask? Seems like a fair question.Anonymous User wrote:I interviewed with a judge during the first week of July and haven't heard anything back since then. That sucks. Not getting any interviews at all—100+ applications and not a peep—is pretty disheartening, too.Anonymous User wrote:5th interview, 5th ding.
