Yes. I'm ok with it, since I had the same amount of time before classes started in undergrad and iirc I couldn't wait for classes to start so I would have something to do. Of course, this is another reason why Hughes isn't for everyone.

Nice. Hopefully the first of many today :)

ahaha not at all.

i'm sheepishly waiting to hear back from the WL before saying for sure where I'll end up. If it makes you feel better this is the only c/o 2016 I post in :) Cornell has my heart.. and my money.

Just deposited and really hope I end up here. ASW was impressive and really sold me. Still waiting on another school's decision so I can negotiate, however, as I can't see myself paying sticker.

Yeah, I'm riding 3 WLs myself, but in my case there would have to also be $$ involved to sway me, so I'm confident in saying I'll end up here.

Glad you enjoyed ASW. But yes, paying the deposit and waiting for negotiation opportunities / WL movement seems like a common tactic here.

I feel like Hughes is more popular this cycle for some reason. I think people who deposited at the deadline may not get a room assigned initially.

Just received an e-mail informing me that, at this point, all Hughes assignments have been made. It's back to Craigslist for me.

Suspicions confirmed. Sorry to hear that.

I think spots should open periodically as people withdraw or find better deals off campus, but I'm not sure what the usual timetable is for that.

Congrats!

Unless you were hoping to live in Hughes, I guess.

Nope, though I kinda wish I was. I'm sure I'll be over frequently though, trying to make friends and whatnot haha. And of course for any Hughes keggers you guys throw. I'll bring an N64 so my company is wanted.

Sent in my seat deposit last week so I'm excited to meet all of you guys! I signed up for a spot in Hughes but I managed to find a place off campus during ASW so there should be at least one available. Also, I've heard that anyone who wants to live in Hughes has no problem finding a spot.

Yeah, I'm staying on the waiting list for Hughes hoping for an assignment, but I'm actively looking for a place off-campus. It's really going to come down to whichever happens first.

Sure, you're welcome to visit. What games are you bringing?

Looking forward to meeting you, mysterious lurker. 8)

I looked into it a bit and it seems like at least one spot should open up before the end of May due to WL activity. At least, I found one instance of this in May, one in July, and one in August of last year. And since you were the first person reporting Hughes was full, I imagine you're high on the waitlist.

Did you get offered housing in Maplewood instead? I hear that's something they usually do when Hughes is full.

And yeah, Hughes does seem more popular. Could be because it's a strange cycle, more people are riding WLs, and would rather sign up for Hughes than sign a lease. I could speculate more, but I don't want to get carried away.

No mention of Maplewood at all. It basically implied that they would get back in touch in 2-4 weeks when they have a better idea of who will be accepting assigned housing, etc.

I'm pretty okay with signing a lease though since I'm sure I'll be up at Cornell next year. Just hoping to find something I like close to the law school.
