Re: Chicago Law Class of 2016
In case you guys haven't seen it, Chicago posted their c/o 2012 ABA stats. They match up very well with the leaked summer data (posted on the first page). If you project using c/o 2013's summer data you might expect a 75+% for next years stats.
However, the CW seems to be that c/o 2014 hiring leveled off or even got scaled back a little.

Thanks for posting that. Biglaw numbers look to be up to 56% from 45%, and federal clerkships + biglaw are up to 72% from 57%.ChampagnePapi wrote:In case you guys haven't seen it, Chicago posted their c/o 2012 ABA stats. That means 3 out of every four students was in biglaw or a federal clerkship. Holy crap. Isn't that really good?

Probably not straight after law school. A lot of people work first.Regulus wrote:Wait, is this actually saying that nobody went into academia?

Accepted! They said they'd send out aid info within two weeks. If I have a competing offer, should I go ahead and send it? And if so, where to?

I don't think you're being crazy and I actually agree with the rationale, but you prolly don't wanna base your decision on the ABA stats. What happens if next year NW ties Chi? You may regret passing on the moneyWhiteyCakes wrote:I really want a job after graduation. Am I willing to pay extra for more job security? Re: Chicago Law Class of 2016
Current 1L at UoC (sorry for butting in on your 2016 thread, congrats!) - but this year it seems like a fairly significant # of 1L's got SA positions, and many were non-diversity. Of my 15 closest friends here, 10 of them are doing an SA. Only a couple are IP, and none are diversity hires. Not sure if this is a unique year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's over 20%, and easily.ChampagnePapi wrote:Well, most of those are probably diversity positions.WhiteyCakes wrote:So top grades and a little bit of luck according to that chart. I wonder how many of those are in ChicagoChampagnePapi wrote:http://www.law.uchicago.edu/prospective ... oymentdataWhiteyCakes wrote:Does anybody have data on what 1Ls are doing during their summers? I know the "Uniquely U of C" packet had some info on qualifying positions for summer funding, but I'm curious whether any (or how many) 1Ls have secured SAs.
Can't be more than 20%.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
