Going back and reading the c/o 2014 thread, it looks like they had online chats with professors or other faculty essentially every week. I want online chats, too!

I figured I might as well check in. I haven't been active at all, but have benefited a great deal from the site.

I'm a March admit, and I just got my admission materials in the mail on Monday. Before then I thought they might have made a mistake.

Thanks and are we anticipating hearing financial information this Friday for March 3/8 admits?

Haha yeah cwid1391.... that's pretty fucked up, but I appreciate you dreaming about me.

I'm just going to throw this out there right now: I don't drink alcohol, so I am totally attending the evening events for the food. I will also network with you if you want, Papi. 8)

I'm doubtful about being there for ASW, but I'll be happy to join in the fall.

Come on now elterrible, what can you possibly have going on that is more important than the inauguration of Chicago's most exclusive club?

Work :-S

Depending on how things turn out over the next few weeks, I might make it. I'd really like to!

Here is a groupon for a three day unlimited bus pass for those of you who won't be renting cars for ASW.

Has anyone started looking at housing/having an idea of when we should start looking? I know housing near universities is often figured out way in advance, and I'm wondering if I should start visiting places during ASW. [Or maybe I'm just super into apartment hunting and want an excuse to waste my time looking at floorplans all day at work.]

I came from a college town and was of a similar mindset to you, but it's WAY too early to look at housing for Chicago (I mean, you can look, but it's definitely too early to sign a lease). You can apply to Regents Park now, but if you want to live elsewhere, I'd suggest looking in mid-July-August for a September 1 lease.

*sigh*... okay. Regents Park seems really overpriced compared to other housing in the area, so I don't think I'm going that way. I'll just have to quietly lurk on craigslist for now.

Anyone have reason to believe scholarship info for 3/8ers will come out today?

Is anyone planning on waiving the school's health insurance? Why is it almost $3000??? Are we getting a free MRI every month?

Regents sucks. I live about a block away, and it costs roughly 50% more than anything around it. Plus the bus that goes between Regents and the law school is being shut down in August - they've said they'll replace it with shuttles, but they have a pretty poor track record of operating their own shuttle service (imo, as someone who graduated UG there in 2011 and have been working on-campus since). If you want help looking for stuff shoot me a PM - I highly recommend TLC management, or McKey and Poague. You probably want to shoot for East Hyde Park if you have any interest in leaving the neighborhood on a regular basis.

Actually the bus thing is super important and I'm surprised I haven't heard more people talking about it. The law school is close to nothing on campus. With no 171/172 it is going to be a bitch to get to in the winter.

That's because they're not just going to shut down the 171/172 and leave the thousands of students who live off campus with no options. I'll worry about if the new option, which they haven't announced yet, is terrible.

For sure. Mostly I worry because of how sucky the shuttles are, plus the cancellation of the drunk van. Also my emotional attachment to the 171/172

So that means only the 170 is left?

ETA: I'm glad TLC management is good because I've already spent way too much time on their website falling in love with apartments. (I really need a different hobby.)

I think all the CTA-operated, UC-sponsored ones will be gone. From what I've heard about it, the CTA proposed a huge rate increase, and the university declined.

ETA to respond to your ETA: I've been in a TLC building for the last two years, the one with the dumbest name of all the ones on the site (Scholar's Corner). The building manager is amazingly nice, maintenance is always fast, the price is great for what I'm getting (a pretty big 1BDR with a great NW corner view, from which I can see campus, the loop, AND the lake), and it has a passable gym (which you probably won't use since you'll have Ratner access - I don't get it anymore as staff. Also ratner is GREAT). I've known people in their other buildings who've had similarly good experiences, though some are more/less expensive - Mayfair and Madison park are the worst offenders. The Flamingo has a pool but you will never get to use it because this is Chicago.

For some reason people take it to/from my work, but I have no idea where it goes or how it would possible be useful. I think the point of it was to give a connecting route to people who commute to the Hospital from downtown via the 2 and 6?

For those of you who have mailed in your seat deposit, how long did it take for the status checker to recognize receipt?
