Damn... The current pricing on that is looking just as expensive as UChicago's Hilton rates. :( Although I am kind of debating just staying at the Hilton and treating this trip as a mini-vacation.

Emma. wrote:I don't know when the formal schedule will come out, but I can give you the basic outline since it is pretty much the same every year. Looking forward to meeting you guys, it should be a fun weekend.

Thursday: Reception at the Law School in the early evening. Optional social events with various student groups. Bar review downtown (not a formal ASW event, but a good chance to hang out with current students)

Friday: Events at school all day. Mostly info sessions about a range of topics, but also tours of campus and the chance to sit in on a real class. It can be a pretty long day, so you might not want to stay out TOO late on Thurs. Friday afternoon there is Wine Mess at school, and then on Friday evening there is the pizza thing downtown (and people will probably go out after dinner).

Saturday: I think the mock class in the morning, and maybe tours of Hyde Park after that?

Yeah, I'm looking forward to meeting you upperclassmen too... you have all been a tremendous help on these forums. :D

How much is the Hilton student rate? When I looked a week or so ago it said that the UChicago rate was not available for some reason.

It's like $200/night or something. You can get much better deals elsewhere. Try groupon.

Ouch. Yeah, I found one on Hotwire for less than half that downtown, so I'll probably pass on the Hilton.

Looks like Gino's East. Not as good as Pizzeria Uno/Due, or even Lou Malnati's (in my spoiled opinion), but still great stuff.

Any chance March admits will get scholarship info this week?

Just booked my ticket for ASW.

I hope that (a) scholarship info comes out for March admits soon and (b) I get some $ so I can withdraw from other schools and save myself some money by not attending their ASWs.

Y'all have Strahilevitz and Levmore, you need to go.

It's a good way of getting the experience of a real class that's actually aimed at you. When you sit in on classes you're not going to "get it" as much. And Strahilevitz and Levmore are amazing.

Speaking of Strahilevitz, I just read this paper by him and it's killer. It addresses what I think about during half my commute every single day. I didn't even know motorist behavior was a subfield of legal study. God I hope I'm in Hyde Park this fall.

He's awesome, and tends to be around during ASW. If you see him, definitely talk to him! Great professor.

For those of us with significant others, which ASW events do you think we can/should bring them to?

Good question... for which I have absolutely no answer. :P

Are you thinking of bringing your SO to the pizza event?

Yeah I'd like to...deep dish is a phenomenon I'd rather not experience alone

Does anyone know what the rents are at Regents Park and if any of the units are furnished? The little law school pamphlet I found online doesn't really have much information.

Edit: I know Reg posted about Regents, but there's nothing specifically about the amount of rent, just that renovated are $100-150 more expensive than non-renovated.

Re: Mock Classes
You should definitely go. Both professors are great.
The problem with real classes is that you are at the mercy of whatever class is convenient and whatever we are doing that day, meaning you will almost certainly be lost. A mock class gives you the chance to probably do a couple of pages of reading in advance and caters to your supposed level of understanding. Plus logistically we don't have enough room in our classrooms to stuff another ~100 or however many of you all are coming to ASW.

Re: Regents
I have a friend in a renovated 1 BR paying 1450 I think, an unrenovated one is like 100 less.
My rent for an unrenovated 2 BR is 1600 and utilities run another 60 ish a month
I don't know of anyone in a furnished one here so can't comment whether they exist or not.
Your rent will also vary based on what your view is (we have a lake view and are on an upper floor so that probably raises it) as well as whether you have a pet.

If anyone is planning on having a car at Regents parking is 175 a month but it is in a heated garage and you can always find spots.
