A friend is coming with me to Chicago this weekend, is it cool if he comes to bar review with me?

Really? I was talking about mcclurg specifically where we got 900 off, and the application fee waived. Weird.rinkrat19 wrote:In McClurg all I got off was a $175 application fee or something equally lame. Onterie I think gave a free month. So they'll likely vary somewhat by building.onionz wrote:Last year local streeterville apartments had a deal for any Northwestern grad student who signed for an apartment that weekend- that's what I ended up doing with my then girlfriend who is going to med school year here. I wonder if they'll be doing it again? we got $900 off first month rent!
More generally, the close/far expensive/cheap decision is something only each person can decide for themself, knowing what you know about your finances and your patience with commuting and your space needs. Both are totally valid ways to go.
I just wanted to make people aware that these deals may exist and they may have to commit this weekend if they wanted to take advantage of them, again if they exist this year.

Someone else posted this too, and I would definitely like to meet up beforehand. I'm staying with a friend who lives there and, if he comes, can help us find our way to the bar. I'll be staying right by the law school....bobloblawstudent wrote:we should get a group together to meet up before bar review! self-serving because this is my first time in chicago and i'm not sure that i want to wander around by myself at night just yet...
P.S. I just read the ASW e-mail, and it said "business casual is fine". I only packed jeans. Does anyone know if Northwestern's ASW is more formal? I really don't want to have to repack or iron stuff.

What exactly is the wristband deal?Kikero wrote:Looks like the bar this week is Barn & Co. Here's the Google Maps directions from the school: http://[link redacted]/maps/WfyF7Kikero wrote:
Everyone's welcome at bar review. I'll post the bar information once it gets sent out to the class (normally Monday or Tuesday).
Bar review typically starts at 9, but this week there is a wristband deal starting at 10. People don't normally start showing up en masse until 10:00 - 11:00 anyway, but there are generally some early comers.

It wasn't last year. If you packed anything other than t-shirts you will probably fit right in, and there were definitely some people wearing t-shirts too.GatorFan305 wrote:

I don't still have my email from last year, but I think it had the same "business casual" language, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Awesome, thanks. I'll bring a dress+tights just in case I guess. It did say biz casual in the email.

Do you guys want to meet at a local bar, or at the law school, around 830 or 9, then start heading over closer to 10?bobloblawstudent wrote:we should get a group together to meet up before bar review! self-serving because this is my first time in chicago and i'm not sure that i want to wander around by myself at night just yet...

Approx 5:30. Maybe if we get enough people who land within an hour of each other we can split a cab? Otherwise I'm planning on taking the Lkwroche wrote:when do people's flights get in today?

Take the El. Its actually faster than taking a cab. If you're hotel is near the law school, get off at the Chicago stop and take a 6$ cab from there.
