No. UChi is most definitely better than NU (maybe close parity for Chicago biglaw, but that's about it).
I was under the impression that NU had somewhere around the fourth or fifth best biglaw placement rate per capita in the country, either directly above or directly below UChi.
However, I can't find the metastudy source for those rankings right now, so I might as well be talking out of my ass.

you're probably referring to the
NLJ 250 rankings. Apparently the NU number is off though because they had the total class size number wrong, so the real % is a bit lower. But either way, north side is the best side.

The drive from DC to the SoCAl meetup seemed a bit too long for a Friday after work. Watching the Nats beat up on the Cubs, though.

so i was planning on living farther away from school but a potential roommate situation has fallen through and i'm thinking that it might just be easier to apply for a place at say, dearborn, from across the country than it might be to ferret through a bunch of craiglist stuff.
My question is this...I was peaking through the rental app and it wants all this landlord info. This might seem crazy but I seriously haven't had contact with a landlord in almost a year. I have had to move an awful lot for work so it's been a lot of month-to-month sublets where i'm writing checks to either fellow or former tenants. Any thoughts on how much this is going to screw me w/r/t a building like dearborn?
ETA-just realized this might be better in the 3L thread...

I got my NU "swag." For some reason I thought it would be a case, but it was just an iPhone skin. The front skin was just plain purple and looked weird so I took it off. So now my swag is a skin on the back of my phone hidden beneath the phone cover.
Sigh.

same. in retrospect i don't know why i thought this would be the case. I also don't know why i find myself way more hesitant to rock a sticker on my phone than i would have been to rock an NU case.

My sentiments exactly, right down to the confusion over my own sentiments.

Honestly, I think it will depend mostly on your credit. My landlord didn't even contact prior landlords.

Just got an email that my deposit is being processed and they will give me a receipt once it goes through. Its been over a month... are they sending a horse and carriage to pick up cash from my bank?

I saw the title and thought for a fleeting moment I MISSED a second deposit. Then went "no way that flew under TLS's nose."
But yes, just confirmation, happy about that.

This forum got quiet.
1 - Henrik Lundqvist is unbeatable, so I suppose I gotta cheer for the blackhawks now.
2 - The best name for a fantasy football league I've come up with so far is "Bob Loblaw's Law League". Give me some more time and I might do better.
3 - Visited Chicago for the first time last week. I've found my spirit bar and it is Big Star in Bucktown.

Hello, new favorite 0L.
Oh my god, right?!? I almost made my fb profile pic a shot I took of the $3 whiskey shot menu. $3 whiskey and $3 fish tacos could conceivably end up totaling 15%+ of my student loan debt.

It's my absolute favorite place (and, as a Texan, I'm picky about tacos). Best evening out: Tacos and whiskey at big star followed by 1) Fancy drinks at violet hour across the street or 2) beer and arcade games at emporium.

Arcade bars are like strip clubs for nerds, I spend way too much money at them and my wrist is sore by the time i pass out
