NYU LRAP description: Why has NYU integrated LRAP with the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLFP) and Income Based Repayment (IBR)? The integration of NYU’s LRAP with PSLFP and IBR will allow NYU to cover a much broader income range while significantly lowering the out-of-pocket costs for the majority of our participants. For example, assume a participant’s annual income from employment for 2012 is $78,000. Under old LRAP, this would result in over $800 per month in an out-of-pocket cost for the participant contribution (this assumes an income base of approximately $52,000 in 2012 for the participant’s graduating class). However, in New LRAP, we have a fixed income base of $80,000. Given that the participant’s $78,000 qualifying income is below the $80,000 base, the participant will no longer have a participant contribution.

Just want to make sure I'm not missing or misreading something. I know some T-14 schools, like UVA, have arrangements where you can make up to $55,000 and not have to make loan payments, and if you make between $55,000 and $75,000 you can receive partial support. So the $80,000 at NYU seems really generous.
According to what I heard at the ASD LRAP session this past Friday, you are not missing or misreading anything
This is correct, except that $5,100 (min) or whatever your expected student contribution is calculated at. You can either take out $5,100 less ($1700 per year) in loans than you are allowed, or you'll be responsible for paying back that small amount later.

Thanks! Everyone has been so helpful in this thread. I definitely have a tough decision to make by Friday. But NYU is becoming more and more appealing.

A few pages back and on OP's first post you'll find valuable housing tips for on and off campus options.

Hm. There's not lists label/option anywhere... I guess I'll just have to wait. Thanks, though!
are you at home.nyu.edu?

Yeah the lists thing didn't show up for me either, but I subscribed via email. Here's the syntax:

If you know the name of the list you wish to join, the easiest way to subscribe is to send a blank email to the list's "join" address, e.g. join-listname@lists.nyu.edu, where 'listname' is the name of the list. For example, if the list name is 'jazztalk', send a blank email to join-jazztalk@lists.nyu.edu.

I don't remember what coases is called I think it might be coases-list.

Alternatively, try going to https://home.nyu.edu/cgi-bin/ListsContr ... tid=xxx123, obviously replacing the NetID with yours, and then searching for coases.

Yup, emailing join-coases-list@lists.nyu.edu worked for me. Thanks!

I'm subscribed, but now I can't figure out how to make it so I get a digest of emails instead of a billion emails a day. My subscription confirmation email said, among other things:
The following commands should be addressed to the Lyris List Server:

lyris@forums.nyu.edu

SETTING MEMBERSHIP TO DIGEST MODE:

set coases-list digest

SETTING MEMBERSHIP TO INDEX MODE:

set coases-list index
But when I send an email to that address it bounces back as "DNS Error: Domain name not found" :?

Does anyone know if there is somewhere to confirm that NYU received your college questionnaire, official transcript, immunization records, etc.?

Also what address do you send official transcript?

Send Official Transcript to:

Office of J.D. Admissions
139 MacDougal Street, Suite C-20
New York, New York 10012

College Questionnaire and Official Transcript Receipt can be checked at:

https://aces2.lsac.org/YourStatus/membership/logon.aspx

Immunization forms will be sent to you, and you may hand them in when you arrive on campus, or earlier by mail if you so choose. Two of the required 3 forms are also available to fill out online, the third is not available online. This is an e-mail sent to me by the NYU Student Health Center:

Dear XXXXX,

The mailing for Fall immunization requirements are going out in May.

In the packet, you will have the Student Health History form ( which is a
self-reporting questionnaire) for you to fill out.

Along with the Student Immunization History form- you will be able to indicate
your MMR vaccines and Meningitis.

There are 2 alternate form online are if students do not receive the packets.
The Student Health History form is not available online. For students who do
not receive the packets and fill out the alternate online forms, you can fill
out the Student Health History form when you arrive on campus.
Any other questions, please email me.
Kind Regards,
XXXXX

You may pay my secretary on the way out. I'm calling this half an hour.

This is a repost in order to find 1 additional roommate on a tentative basis for a D'agostino triple.

Thus far, the room will be co-ed with at least 1 male and 1 female, none are smokers, all are kind, and we are all respectful with common areas, level of noise, and individual preferences for waking and sleeping hours. We are searching for an equally amicable roommate, again on a tentative basis. I am, at this point, the third 'wild card' who may not be able to join the triple. If the match turns out to be good between you and the other two, I will be willing to step out for you to join even if my other situation does not turn out positively - for the sake of 3 people getting good roommates at the cost of me going in blind - the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the one.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Here begins my original sales pitch - feel free to ignore, it's not essential:

I'm pumped but I'm wary of the triples. I haven't been out of UG long but I've always had singles and then moved into my own apartment.

There's a chance I'm signing a lease with my SO who goes to NYU UG but it's far more likely that I'll be looking at on-campus options, probably D'Agostino triples for the low cost.

On that note: I am a ridiculously courteous person/roommate. I will make about the same amount of noise, leave the same amount of mess, and overall be as obtrusive as a homeless ghost. If anyone else here is equally Casper-like, I'd love to find polite, kind, and respectful roommates. I have no preference to cigarette smokers vs non-smokers, but I prefer those who will not smoke marijuana indoors (btw, not a rod about drugs, wouldn't call the kettle black, but I find indoor marijuana smoking extremely disrespectful to others who may not want to get high at just that time). I've yet to find an individual I could not be quite good friends with, I'm extremely amicable, seriously, test my social intelligence - crooks to Brooks, I'm just friendly.

The one caveat to all this, I like to cook my meals. From the small nature of the suites in D'Ag, I suspect that the smell of food will be unavoidable throughout. Also, my cuisine is primarily Korean food. I know the smell of kimchi in the fridge and Korean cuisine in general can be unpleasant for people. So please keep that in mind.

If you haven't submitted a housing request yet and are interested in trying to assure at least a respectful roommate, hit me up with a PM. I'll know by this weekend if I'm signing that lease with my SO, and we can try to dodge the 'bad roommate' bullet.

I don't know how to change that either. What I did was just create a filter so that emails directed to the coases address get labeled "Coases List" and skip my inbox.

Is anyone still having trouble getting access to the housing application? Every time I try to login with my netid, it says I need to log in or my session has expired. Am I doing this wrong or should I email them?
