No, you should have 5 hours of Lawyering a week, and about half of that is going to get cancelled through the year.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:Edit: And do we really have 9 hours of Lawyering per week? This seems a bit high for just one class...

Does everyone else only have their Lawyering class scheduled and have 9 hours of it?

No. Click "Enroll" in the top left of the screen in Albert and it will show you the classes more clearly.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:Does everyone else only have their Lawyering class scheduled and have 9 hours of it?

The class is actually 3 sessions per week, 50 min, 1:40 hrs, 1:40 hrs. They give a block of time and I think your teacher has discretion on which hours (s)he wants to use.bailey8078 wrote:No. Click "Enroll" in the top left of the screen in Albert and it will show you the classes more clearly.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:Does everyone else only have their Lawyering class scheduled and have 9 hours of it?

The course is designed that way. When you have big assignments due you don't meet for classes anymore. The idea is that you spend that time writing instead. Also it stops a few weeks before finals season so you can study.americanman wrote:why?OldMan2015 wrote:No, you should have 5 hours of Lawyering a week, and about half of that is going to get cancelled through the year.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:Edit: And do we really have 9 hours of Lawyering per week? Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
I see some people have already sent out "WTB 1L Books" e-mails on the Coases listserv. How do they already know which books to buy? I logged into "NYU Classes" and none of my classes have been put up yet. Have our professors disclosed which texts we're supposed to buy? Kinda confused. Am I missing something here?
edit: FIGURED IT OUT! People are putting in the class code numbers into the search bar on the Bookstore website. Still probably wise to wait until syllabi are available though to confirm for sure.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
So since you guys are starting to figure out what books you need, I'm selling a bunch of 1L books. They're all used (obviously) but in pretty good condition, with some highlighting and underlining being the average. The deal is that the price will be tied to the market, so if you find the used book on either Amazon or from the NYU bookstore, I'll sell it to you for 20% off. I can bring the books to law school when we get closer to school or you can grab them from my apartment w/in walking distance if you realllllly want them early.
Book are:
Contracts
-High Court Case Summaries - Keyed to Dawson's 9th (basically a book of case summaries for the casebook, VERY useful if you don't want to waste time briefing cases extensively)
-Contracts - Farnsworth 4th ed (I think a must have if you're taking Epstein for Contracts, pretty long though so you have to commit)
-Concepts and Insights - Chirelstein 6th - 1 highlighted, 1 completely clean - little hornbook on Contracts, very useful
-Contracts E&E - Blum 5th - minimal writing in margins
-Contracts - Dawson 9th casebook - some highlighting and writing
Civ Pro
-High Court case summaries - keyed to Subrin
-High Court case summaries - keyed to Marcus 4th
-Concepts and Insights - Issacharoff 3rd - 1 clean, 1 w/underlining - really nice little civ pro book
-Civ Pro E&E - Glannon 6th
-Civ Pro Casebook - Marcus 5th
-Freer 2nd Treatise
Criminal
-Lexis Understanding Criminal Law- Dressler 5th
-Crim Law E&E - Singer 4th
-Casebook - Kadish 9th
Torts
-Concepts and Insights - Abraham 3rd
-Lexis Understanding Torts - Diamond 3rd
-Tort Casebook - Goldberg 3rd
PM if you're interested.

Any 2L's or 3L's happen to have advice on buying E&E's for our 1L classes?

Buy the most recent edition from Amazon, used if possible. Also check Coases.estamosjuntos wrote:Any 2L's or 3L's happen to have advice on buying E&E's for our 1L classes?

Probably a place to mingle with your fellow section mates. Hopefully with free alcohol.

Any way to get from La Guardia to NYU with luggage better than taking a cab?

If you're looking to save money, you could try Super Shuttle or something similar. The cheapest route is taking the bus to the subway, which I've done several times and is really irritating with luggage.sinfiery wrote:Any way to get from La Guardia to NYU with luggage better than taking a cab?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
