This is correct.AnaMariana42 wrote:Just deposited. I sent my scholarship acceptance form to the finaid office, though, while the deposit went to the admissions office... I think that's what they said to do? Hope I didn't mail anything to the wrong place.

I sent it all to the same place - office of admissions I think. They sent me an email confirming receipt within an hour of when the post office said they would get it so just wait for that email.

Sent in my deposit yesterday via FedEx. Looking forward to joining you fine people!
PS: I called to check and it is 100% fine to send your deposit and scholarship contract in one package to the admissions office.

Is it far too late to beg for a deadline extension to April 1st?

Would you recommend calling the admissions office directly, or sending an email at this point?

I would call first due to urgency, but by now I'm sure you made up your mind about that.beautyistruth wrote:Would you recommend calling the admissions office directly, or sending an email at this point?
In other news, hello fellow Dukies. I have received confirmation of my deposit!

Emailed and received an extension. Duke Law School is ridiculously, ridiculously nice.

Anyone want to guess how big the class size will be this coming year? Duke was one of the 4 schools that had an increase in applications. Anyone have any idea? I would hate to have a 300 person class size.

Im hoping it stays the same. It'd be awesome if it dipped below 200, but that is some serious wishful thinking. Ill say 220.
Is there any reason for the class size at Duke to rise this year?

I agree it would be unfortunate if class size rose. It's not getting any easier to place people in good law jobs post-grad. If the class size increases, it's only going to get harder for Duke to keep up its decent employment numbers. And the students, too, will have to become more competitive with each other. Do not want.

Personally I think it will be close to 220. Duke traditionally has a lower yield (matriculations/acceptances) than other schools so the size of the class can vary more easily.

I hope it's about the same as the current 1L class and they keep it 210 or less. But who knows how many people will accept offers.

Me too!! Well, tomorrow is the last day for the seat deposits.. so, after that , hopefully they will send us some sort of welcome packet that states how many students they are expecting.framboozer wrote:I hope it's about the same as the current 1L class and they keep it 210 or less. Anyone looking for housing? I live in southwest Durham, 5.7 miles from Duke Chapel & I'm renting out my completely furnished townhome. I'd consider this a safer area than nearby the school (I have lived by East Campus also). It's down the street from Southpoint, near Hope Valley + close to lots of shopping & both I-40 & 15-501 are close. This is a great place if you have a roomie or significant other going to UNC. Send me a PM if you're interested!
Also, Durham is AWESOME. I absolutely love living here. It's hard to find a medium sized city in the South that's as community oriented, progressively minded, and lively as Durham. It is also a foodie/craft beer paradise (we were just named the South's Tastiest Town). I'm heading out to USC in the fall, and I already miss it here.

Re: Duke Law Class of 2016
You won't find out how big the class is until orientation, mainly because of the summer melt period (admission talk), people who have deposited get off the wait list somewhere else, so they decide to go someplace else, and people who duke then takes off their waitlist, etc. The admissions office wont know the exact number of the class until the week before orientation, but it def. wont be more than 220, at least not significantly.curious66 wrote:Me too!!
