Is that Philly train to catch Penn'a ASW?shntn wrote:Or come to Cville and we'll get a drink.danitt wrote:On your way back you can stop in DC and we'll get a drink.shntn wrote:You'll get to miss partying with me, so pretty bad.digifly wrote:1. How bad would it be to miss the excepted students weekend? A conference that I have to attend has been scheduled for the same days. :/
2. Where can I find the FB group?
I actually have a train to DC then bus to Cville on the way down. The only direct train would get me there too late for the picnic. But on the way back, train straight to Philly.

I might be able to catch like the tail end of some of the Saturday events. I'll be back that afternoon. More likely I'll just show up, grab a bunch of admitted students, and take them out drinking in Center City.digifly wrote:

I went to Penn, so I figured it was a better call to learn more about UVA, which I know comparatively little of.

Re: UVA Class of 2016
It will be an easy choice based on personality. I visited Penn... wont say anything about my impression there but I was shortly thereafter in Cville with beautiful weather, fun people, softball and beer. Thinking back... SO happy with my decision.shntn wrote:I might be able to catch like the tail end of some of the Saturday events. I'll be back that afternoon. Re: UVA Class of 2016
Not possible to establish VA residency for the purposes of discounted tuition once you are enrolled
You can become a VA 'resident', but you will not be eligible for in-state tuition

Re: UVA Class of 2016
So I submitted the FAFSA and the financial aid questionnaire thing via UVA SIS system or whatever. Does anyone know if we need to submit anything else (like the need access form)?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: UVA Class of 2016
They said in the e-mails that we'd need to do NeedAccess, but the website only says to do the SIS thing. I'm going to do all of them just in case. Just waiting on W-2's in the mail and parent's taxes...Hspeaksfriend wrote:So I submitted the FAFSA and the financial aid questionnaire thing via UVA SIS system or whatever. When you log in to SIS, it'll bring you to "az21833's Student Center." Scroll down to the "Finances" header. You should see something like this:az21833 wrote:where is this questionaire, i logged into SIS but i dont see it, and i dont see any mention of it anywhere on UVA law finaid websiteHspeaksfriend wrote:So I submitted the FAFSA and the financial aid questionnaire thing via UVA SIS system or whatever. Thanks! I don't have my W2s yet but went ahead and estimated since I have a pretty good idea. The fafsa website says its better to get your form in earlier if you can estimate and then change it later. I'm not sure how important this is but just thought I'd throw that out there.North wrote:They said in the e-mails that we'd need to do NeedAccess, but the website only says to do the SIS thing. Re: UVA Class of 2016
I actually just spent about 10 minutes on their website trying to find that out. I assumed it would be (750/3)=250 a month per person, but they never actually say that. I'm calling tomorrow. For $250 for a room, I'd move in tomorrow. $750, not so much.Br3v wrote:So thats (750x3)= $2250 a month right?North wrote:So I'm not jumping the gun by thinking that I should do the same...danitt wrote:That's where I did my conditional lease agreement.North wrote:Has anybody looked into this new Pavilion at North Grounds place opening up on Arlington this semester? yeah $250 seems too good to be true. I have heard ppl say they are expensive so I imagine it is 750 each. Regardless, post your findings here!

That is a state regulation, and has nothing to do with UVA. A cursory inspection tells me it's basically impossible in Michigan, as well.az21833 wrote:this is the only public school iv heard of doing this. at every other one, you can establish after your first year (like Boalt)Wahoos wrote:Not possible to establish VA residency for the purposes of discounted tuition once you are enrolled

I went to do this, and it looks like my financial aid application is for 2012-13... did this happen to anyone else? I don't think it asked me to choose a year when I first started entering info, but maybe I'm just dumb.

I know I found it because something on the Financial Aid page sent me there. I don't know that it'll actually matter, but I figure better safe than sorry.az21833 wrote:maybe its left over from last year. as far as i can tell this is something people have just stumbled upon , not something uva has asked us to do in any email or on their website... am i mistaken?
I'm not sure what you did, but, if I recall correctly from when I did it, the 2012/2013 application link led to a dead end and the 2013/2014 link was right below it. Under your Financial Aid header (assuming you filled out and submitted the questionnaire), does it say:Rhoover894 wrote:I went to do this, and it looks like my financial aid application is for 2012-13... did this happen to anyone else? On a related note, I hate UVA's website. I thought BlackBoard was bad, but this site makes me miss it.
