Umm... I consider myself a card carrying member since I was one of the 3 at ASW!

Well, one of the 4 I guess I should say.

At the time you told us you were going elsewhere! So we had a secret society meeting later that night at the bar.

and kdcane90, I don't think anyone has made a Facebook page yet. We're all too lazy to get on that.

lol, "The Secret Society of Case TLSers!!"

What did you guys think about ASW? What was your impression of other admitted students? Was it like a cut-throat gunning bunch or (hopefully) helpful friendly leds.

Oh, now that I made it to Cleveland, I am falling in love with University Circle! But Cleveland as a whole is quite underwhelming... During the train-ride from the airport, I dont think I would feel safe getting off anywhere but I suppose Tower City, is the city as bad as what the train route seems to suggest?

ASW was good. We mostly just hung out with ourselves but the other people that I talked to, except for one who was just beyond annoying, weren't assholes.

Haha oh yes...the train ride...the areas that you go through on the ride are probably the roughest neighborhoods in Cleveland. The areas where students live is MUCH better, as you are already seeing. Parts of the city are very impoverished and sad, but every city has its ghetto and you've seen ours now! Basically don't go there after dark.

ITT. Taking the train anywhere and driving back from the airport are both horrible introductions to Cleveland. The drive back from the airport makes you feel like you're in some barren wasteland with a few abandoned factories in the background.

Just got back from a tour of the school and get to talk to Dean Curtis, I really enjoy how the school is surrounded by parks and trees, the large windows at the library are just spectacular!

Still need to think this over, but I might very well be joining you all next year :)

Still no notification that I'll be receiving any money :(
Is it time for me to call admissions?
Or should I wait for Dean Mitchell's congratulatory phone call to bring it up?
Apparently he's busy traveling and should be calling me when he gets back to CWRU.

So here's the deal, Cleveland has some really bad neighborhoods, and some really great ones. I've lived downtown now for a few years now and I absolutely love it. The neighborhoods to check out are, Tremont, Ohio City, E. 4th, W. 6th, Coventry, Little Italy, and University Circle. Avoid anything between E. 40th and about E. 100th, although I personally never really feel unsafe in these areas. I just wouldn't walk around there after dark by myself. Cleveland has a really laid back feel, the people are nice, the food is great, and it's a big enough city but not too big. Oh, and the weather sucks.

I think I got accepted on a friday, and they emailed me a scholarship notification the next week. I wouldn't stress yet. Good luck!

Just give admission a call, Dean Mitchell is all over the place, but if you get a chance to talk to him, certainly do, I was very impressed by him.

Trivia: President of CWRU was a law professor at the law school, that means the law school would not lack financial or "moral" support from the university, which is good to know

The pouring rain this morning was certainly uncalled for.

I planned on riding the Healthline around later this afternoon just to check out other places. I was told the RTA red line ride took you through the worst possible part of town, and does not reflect what Cleveland really is.

That sounds like a good idea. The Healthline should take you right down Euclid into downtown I believe. Once you cross E. 30th into downtown, you are in a cool little area. Cleveland State's campus starts, then you have Playhouse Square, and you should be able to get off and check out E. 4th from there. Definitely take a stroll down E. 4th if you get a chance, some of our best restaurants are located there. You could probably make it from there to W. 6th pretty easily too, which is where most of the large bars and clubs are. W. 6th is cool and draws a lot of people on the weekends, but I think most of the locals are now starting to prefer W. 25th or Ohio City for night time adventures.

That should say at instead of are. You were at your other thing at the other place. At least you could see through my typos.

Totally agree. I have a friend who lives downtown and he loves it. You forgot my little neighborhood! Cedar-Fairmount is awesome. All the neighborhoods have their own vibe, so go check them all out! I used to live off of Coventry, I think that's turning into a sort of has been neighborhood and East Cleveland is starting to creep in as well. I haven't gone out on Coventry in awhile either. I think that's a sign that I'm getting old. Ohio City is definitely a good place to go, especially if you like beer. I went to a house party there last summer and while my boyfriend wasn't a fan of the place, I loved it. It's not as safe as my neighborhood but it's more grown up than Coventry and lots to do in the area. It was also a swanky loft that I'd never be able to afford myself. So yeah, Cleveland rocks, and I agree about avoiding anything between E. 40th and E. 100th. I was telling neeko at ASW about how I love my city but after being in a class co-taught by a CMHA detective I'm terrified of certain parts of Cleveland...specifically that area. And any stretch of E. 55th.

Are you a 0L as well, scrollend2003, or currently a student? I found it interesting that your only two posts were on the creation of the group.
