Any good apartment complexes for married students?

This will be my first time going to school away from home and I have no idea how to plan. When is it recommended that I start looking for housing? Is this something I should be doing now, or over the summer? Will the good places disappear quickly?

I have been browsing some complexes online, and a lot have filled up. Not to capacity, but they will be out of 1-1's or 2-2's, for example. If Gainesville housing is anything like Tallahassee housing (where I live now), nearly all current students have secured their housing for next year already. I'm hoping to find a place very soon.

Does anybody know of complexes that house mostly grad/law students?

Wow, I was not expecting that. Hopefully I can find some time in this weekend to go up, unfortunately with the semester winding down, free time is sparse right now.

Just checking in since I will be attending ASD and am 99% sure I will be attending UF law. I posted on the other thread, but for housing their is a lot to choose from. There is houses right across from the law school, a couple apartment complexes that are mostly law/grad students a mile away, and then of course the other million apartment complexes. The two apartment complexes by the law school are Cazabella and Point West. I looked a few other places including The Paddock Club, Retreat at Magnolia Parke and The Reserve at Kanapaha. They are further from the school, but you get more for your money.

If anyone needs a place to stay while they're looking for more permanent accommodations, my roommate just accepted an internship in Orlando, and we're looking for a subleasor to take his room for the Fall semester.

We live in a quiet neighborhood with a few other law students. The rent for a bedroom and adjoining bathroom is 400 bucks. We split utility bills down the middle, and they've never run more than 80 bucks apiece for power and internet. The ride to school is five minutes by car, and there's bus service close by. Deal-maker for us: washer and dryer included.

Personally, we're about average for guy roommates: tidy, but not finicky. I like to cook big meals, so there's always something to snack on. We also home-brew beer.

PS: Heads-up about the houses across the street from the law school: The utility bills are astronomical.

Camelot and Hawaiian Village are also both very close to the law school. All of these complexes have a good amount of law students living in them.

Visited Gainesville recently. Cazabella was a place I looked into. Looks nice, close to the law school, and town house set up. Heard mostly graduates and law students. Cheap too

Any advice about on-campus housing options for graduate students? I like that you only have to give 60 days notice so if I decide to go home for the summer, I'm not stuck paying rent. Are they safe/nice? I'm not expecting them to be as nice as an off campus apartment just clean. Any specific one anyone might recommend?

I know someone in the other UF thread (admissions one) mentioned living in grad housing. I don't know much about it, but if you search that thread, you could PM them.

Are you guys planning on living alone or with a roommate? For current students, what is more common?

At least for the first year I plan to live alone. If I meet some like minded person the first year, then I'll consider a roommate but I don't want to go into it blind and end up with a horrible roommate.

Ugh, and I hate to do this because it's creepy and I didn't like when 2L's did this last year, but I live in a 2/2 that is super close to campus and the other bedroom is completely empty. I have been told that I need to find a roommate or the condo will be put up for sale All utilities are paid for and rent is $500. Furnished apt.

The following has been edited because FSU has pulled into the lead and I will probably not be attending UF:

I have a 2/2.5 condo on the NW side of town at magnolia place, which is right by the bus route 43 that takes you directly to the law school. It is two story, has hardwood floors downstairs, and is in extremely good shape. It's 1275 sq foot, built in 2003. There is a great pool, gym, tennis court, a small dog park, and it's a very peaceful location for young professionals. I am happy to accept dogs (as long as the breeds are allowed in the complex). No cats please. The place is unfurnished with a washer and dryer hookup. I'd be happy to include a washer and dryer if need be (let me know and we can work it out). I'm working out the details but I believe I can offer the rooms for $500 each (cable and Internet included.) Text me at 772-643-3220 for more details or if you would like to see pictures of the condo. I will have finalized info about it in a week or so and it will most likely be move in ready by the end of April. There is also a garage and tons of storage space.

Went to look at it today and thought it looked pretty nice for the money but the reviews online say the walls are paper thin and you'll hear everything your neighbors do. Does anyone have some first, or second hand experience? I walked around for a bit looking for a resident but I guess everyone was in class or at work.

You get used to it though, more or less. At least they aren't having parties all the time.

That's what I meant. The online reviews for cazabella made it seem like you can hear the neighbors breathing. I know a college town, near the college will always be rowdy. What I worry about is even quiet neighbors will become annoying while trying to sleep if the walls are so thin, and I also don't want to have to be ridiculously quiet to not be annoying.

I should have been more specific. I mean, while being in a close proximity to campus may be loud in of itself (traffic, game days, etc), the actual construction of complexes near campus may be somewhat of a lower quality. Currently I live near my UG campus and have lived in other places just as close. I have fond that the majority of these complexes have thinner walls and lower quality construction bc they build them knowing its for students and it doesn't have to be top notch.

If any girls are looking for housing, I'm a current UF undergrad who will be attending UF law in the fall and I live in a gorgeous, new, clean and quiet neighborhood and am looking for a roommate to fill the 4th room. Rent is cheap for what you're getting, and it works off individual leases like an apartment (even though we have a house!) so you're only responsible for your room and we split utility overages each month. My two roommates are really nice and smart, they're going to be seniors at UF but your bedroom would be upstairs so don't worry about them not being on a law student schedule. Anyone have any opinions on The Boardwalk apartment homes?
