Ooh, definitely risky play. Just to clarify, I withdrew because I had decided to go elsewhere, not to try to negotiate for more money. I thought that any chances for the Rubenstein were long gone, so it was a complete (and amazing) surprise when the admission folks brought it up. I wouldn't suggest trying to withdraw if that's not actually your intent. That could backfire pretty badly.

ETA: Thanks, Mista Bojangles. :D

I tried to withdraw earlier this week, and they responded by offering me a Ruby. Totally unexpected... but too incredible to pass up. So excited to be joining you all in Chicago this September. :)

This is so awesome, congrats! I look forward to meeting such a bauce in the fall.

No I don't think I'll be attempting a fake withdrawal, though the thought may have crossed my mind.

So we get our schedule a week before orientation?

=/ I'd like to start ordering books now so I don't have to buy from the bookstore.

Can still just order from Amazon and get them there in plenty of time. Free 2-day shipping Amazon prime. Sign up for Amazon student or Amazon mom if you don't feel like paying the yearly Prime fee (which would probably pay for itself after a year of textbook purchases).

You all will be fine, you'll also be introduced to "Law Announce" and "Book serv." 2Ls and 3Ls will be eager to sell their books to you, and it's often a lot cheaper than on Amazon or other sites. And you can also get supplements for a good price. Don't worry, you'll have your books in plenty of time to freak out :)

I'm getting so impatient to make the move. I keep looking for things to do to prepare since I'm not working atm and have nothing, time is going sooo slow :(

+1 This is pretty much exactly how I feel, if you add dread because I have to move back in with my mom for a month between my undergrad lease running out and my Chicago lease starting.

Haha I feel you there. I moved home last week so I'm left with 2 full months with my mom (who works from home making it worse).

Yeah, either we are just more conversation retarded than your standard U of C law class or we just aren't prolific enough TSLers to keep up with c/o 2014.

Just moved into our new Hyde Park apartment. If anyone's in the area and wants to hang out before all the craziness, I'll be here all summer. Looking forward to seeing you all around soon!

Holy shit last year's class managed 220+ pages on this thread?

There aren't any schools who have gotten to half of that yet, 2015 sucks I guess :P

I'll be moving in to Regents at the beginning of August with nothing to do but sample the local bars and practice riding the bus. Half of me is extremely excited about it. The other half has read too much TLS.

Anyway I'm excited to meet everybody in the next few months.

Probably be there around that time. I'm always down for whiskey.

Also, if anyone else is an obnoxious foodie, I know some places.

Obnoxious foodies unite! Anyone tried Nana in University Village/Chinatown? Delicious as fuck. Price range: $$ ($15-29 per person)

BTW, what is up with Northwestern's bacon tropism? Not quite understanding the meaning of their "c/o 2015" page header. As a pork man myself, I find their surface similarity to me indicative of NU's ersatz relation, generally, to the U of C.

...And the NU trolling begins ;)
