I think it's 2 big sections, 6 LRW ones.

^This. We don't know our section divisions yet, but everyone takes Criminal Law, Civil Procedure I, Torts, LRW, and Elements of the Law this Fall.

So I give up on the facebook group. Let me know when you guys get into the city - I'm looking forward to the TLS meet up. Also thanks for the immunization form link Mad - I had no idea we were supposed to submit that already.

Yeah thanks for the reminder!
Currently at my local health department office. In case anyone had doubts, this is where fun goes to die.

When I got my records I realized my parents had me vaccinated for MMR twice. As in I got for fucking doses of that vaccine. My dad's explanation, "Yeah we just forgot and we'd just moved so the doctor decided to give it to you again."rowingmyboat wrote:Yeah thanks for the reminder!

It's a miracle I survived growing up in a big family.

^Haha, at least you didn't have chicken pox and the varicella vaccine. The fucking silver lining of the pox is only silver for kids whose parents remembered to have their pediatrician document the case.
As for the TLS meet, I'm down to get together in HP or in the Loop. Jimmy's Woodlawn is a pretty decent bar on 55th, so that could be a thing. Let's try and make it happen when a good number of you are moved in.

Leaving for Chicago tomorrow, move in day is this Sunday then frantically trying to find furniture and stuff while entertaining myself in a new city with potentially no internet for a while and definitely no cable. Should be interesting at least haha

Pre gaming seems appropriate.

Hey rowing, I'm headed to the Chicago Dep't of Health this week. Did you need an appointment just for your local bureau to fill out the Immunization form? I only need one booster, and I want to get that shot from the U of C health services in October. So should I just walk in to the Dep't of Health, slap the form and my records down, and say "fill this out for me, please"?

Re: University of Chicago Class of 2015
My local dept had the take a number system--no appointment necessary (I don't think they do appointments even). Once they called my number I gave them my ID, explained I just needed the form filled out and they had my records since I got shots there for school before. Then they sent me in to the nurse, she had all my info and filled it out/told me horror stories about the chicago weather. They do this stuff all day, so go ahead and slap down the form and they'll know what to do.

Thanks, rowing! I guess I'll head to the one near the U of C and pray for a safe and timely visit.

Pray they won't have a really loud tv showing animal abuse cop shows in the waiting room like mine too. Good luck and godspeed.anewaphorist wrote:Thanks, rowing! I guess I'll head to the one near the U of C and pray for a safe and timely visit.

PSA: Don't go to a Chicago public health department for immunizations or for them to authorize the form. The City recently privatized its clinics, and they do not immunize adults (only children up to age 18). Even if you have all your records, they wont fill out the form unless they provide a health service. If all you need is a vaccination, you're out of luck at these clinics. Found this out the hard way. Go to the U of C Student Care clinic on the hospital campus. They'll fill out your form and submit it electronically for you, as well as give you any vaccinations you're lacking--all for free.

I settled into my new Hyde Park home a couple of days ago- I'd love to meet some of you if anyone wants to grab lunch or something before Orientation gets underway.

I'm one of those people who still doesn't have a Facebook account- haven't seen any of that. If someone could pass on info about some of those arrangements that'd be great.

I didn't have one either, but made one just to join the group. Really is pretty critical.Lekal wrote:I'm one of those people who still doesn't have a Facebook account- haven't seen any of that. If someone could pass on info about some of those arrangements that'd be great.

I'd be up for a Hyde Park meet. Anyone want to meet up at Jimmy's Woodlawn this afternoon? They have cheap bar food and decent pitcher specials. I'm looking to go around 3PM...hopefully we'll have our schedules by then.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
