joetheplumber, are you definitely attending UCLA? I think in another thread, you were a bit underwhelmed by UCLA's ASW?
Yup, I'm attending UCLA. It wasn't me that was underwhelmed by the ASW. It was other posters. I agree with their statements about a lot of emphasis on location rather than employment data. But since UCLA was the only admit day i went to, I couldn't compare it to anything else. However, I thought it was decent though it could be improved.

And Excellent117: I think you will receive an actual letter giving you a PID # first to log in. Prolly a week max depending on where you live.

And just submitted housing, hopefully i get in then

Thanks for the quick response!

Does anyone know how difficult it is to get in to the Anderson School of Management for a JD/MBA?

Yeah, they probably didn't want to emphasize the negatives. From the most recent data, it seems you have to be in the top 35% at UCLA to be somewhat safe for biglaw.

Probably similar for UCLA?

Found this in another thread: "USC is right about 40% for this years OCI (summer SA 2012). 89 offers out of 212 students I believe. EDIT: its 89 / 221"

What's everyone doing for housing? Is there a discussion on a fb page that I can't find?

Has anybody gotten their housing assignment yet?

Also, dear God, Weyburn is expensive.

Nope. I submitted on 5/3.

Tangential, but worthy of stoking speculation: My friend also submitted his application on the third and has already heard back. He's getting a Phd, not a J.D.

Got my housing assignment, and its expensive. Is there any difference in paying in full and monthly? Is there a discount for paying in full? Anybody know?

Do you guys know if there are still open spots at Weyburn? I have heard it's relatively nice, but pretty expensive... Considering how close it is and the fact that I don't think I want to bring a car to CA for quite awhile (until I have to work), I think the cost could be worse...

Oh hey you crazy Bruins.

Rising 2L at UCLA. Let me know if any of you have questions. I'll answer them here when I can.

I'm a 2L at UCLA, and lived in Weyburn last year. I also thought it was pricey (1125) at the time, but now that I'm moving out and finding comparable apts nearby, Weyburn is actually very reasonable - especially because it includes all utilities/cable/internet. Just thought I'd let you know in case you turn it down just to find out all the other apartments are just as expensive!

Well, you CAN find cheaper places in Westwood. And you CAN find cheaper places farther away in Culver or maybe Santa Monica or Venice... but you can't beat the convenience. Look around just south of Wilshire, Brentwood, or in Westwood on Veteran if you aren't into Weyburn, but want something thats still really close and potentially reasonable.

Thanks for the update, though it's hardly welcome news.

Are you sure it used to be 44k? I had $45,820 written down for in state, though I could be mistaken. With the new tuition at $47,464, the increase comes out to $1,644.

Again, I'm not pleased with the bump, but it's better than the worst case scenario. When I spoke with the office in May they said it could increase by as much as 8k!

UCLA offered me 20k/yr in need-aid! 8)

that's gonna be super tempting if cornell offers me nothing or is unwilling to match/consider that.
Congrats!Does it come with the ad letter?
