I'm also going to do a little apartment hunting on the sunday following ASW. Ideally a place with a garage or close by a safe garage.

I'd be up for doing that too. I know the Garden Court is a good place (had friends that lived there)jpal13 wrote:I'm also going to do a little apartment hunting on the sunday following ASW. Ideally a place with a garage or close by a safe garage.

Include me in your social hour (especially the drinking part)! But as for apartment hunting I am going with my boyfriend so I doubt it would be a good group outing for me.justicefishy wrote:You can come! With me anyway! I"m not sure about jpal though

Sent in my needs based aid stuff today. I doubt I will get anything since from what I gather most aid is merit based. I hope I get some of that. I did not get an invite for a named scholarship but I saw someone on another thread just got awarded the Levy.

Makes sense! And of course you're invited to the social stuff! So if we haven't gotten any invites for scholarships by this point, we're probably not getting one right?

Just booked my flight! I'd be down for heavy drinking and/or apartment hunting.
I'm hoping to hear about scholarships/financial aid before arriving in Philly. That would certainly sweeten the deal...

No, I think mid-March is the timeframe for non-named scholarships. AFAIK, the only people who have gotten scholly info so far are the ones who have received the big scholarships (Levy, etc.) and Penn definitely gives out more than those.WhiteGuy5 wrote:So if we haven't gotten any invites for scholarships by this point, we're probably not getting one right?

Received the Wilson scholarship, 60k. Anyone else hear back? Curious to see how many people got the 75k as opposed to the 60k

I know a few current students read this thread, so does anyone know what the turnaround is on hearing about aid once we've submitted our information?

Seems that way. I'm pretty disappointed I didn't get offered the chance to apply for one of the smaller ones. I hope I get something in the March round.WhiteGuy5 wrote:So if we haven't gotten any invites for scholarships by this point, we're probably not getting one right?
It came out around March 16th last year for everyone.Nobody wrote:I know a few current students read this thread, so does anyone know what the turnaround is on hearing about aid once we've submitted our information?

I'll be at ASW, not sure if I'll be able to make it to any Thursday night festivities because I have a test in a class until 3:45, then have a ~3 hour drive home to Philly. But I'll be around until Sunday afternoon.

Damn that sucks. So the only thing left is the Dean's Scholarship--and the highest amount they can award for that is 60k. Bummer.Nelson wrote:Seems that way. You can get more.WhiteGuy5 wrote: Damn that sucks. So the only thing left is the Dean's Scholarship--and the highest amount they can award for that is 60k. Bummer.
ETA: to clarify, you can get grants on top of Deans. Which ends up substantially bigger than $60. But I think it's the exception not the rule, but you can.

So, I filled out my Need Access and FAFSA forms as soon as I was able, but I just recently saw this: http://www.sfs.upenn.edu/finaid-checkli ... 2-2013.htm
Do I submit a copy of my and my parents' tax returns after I receive aid or do I need to do it in order to be considered for need-based aid?

My understanding is NA and FASFA are all that is required to be considered. Eventually, you need to submit taxes (I believe deadline for that is much later, April 15th or something).taikofox wrote:So, I filled out my Need Access and FAFSA forms as soon as I was able, but I just recently saw this: http://www.sfs.upenn.edu/finaid-checkli ... 2-2013.htm

Has anyone who requested to stay with a current student at ASW heard anything about that yet?
