Oh god. Fuck. I really need to be working on that. D: I'm such a procrastinator WHYYYY
Psh. I saw a March 1st deadline somewhere... I'm not going to worry about it til mid-Feb. :D.

Besides, I'm still waiting on my W-2 which probably won't come to me until Feb (our accounting department is slllllloooooow). The only thing I can do now, NU-wise, is partayy.

I don't think you need W-2s for the survey thing though. I waiting on mine to complete FAFSA and the other thing, but I am going to start working on the questions. I feel like I am going to have to put a lot of work into this if I am going to have any shot at merit aid. I see that they don't ask for parental information, which is nice, but I don't expect need-based aid on account of my DINK status. I should ask the NUers if they know how generous the need-based aid is.

Reading over the questions now. Agh. Don't want to do this at all. Didn't we answer the question re short-term and long-term goals on the app? I can't really remember now... but I thought there was a short answer question about that on the LSAC app.

EXACTLY my thoughts. ): I don't think I'm even getting money, this feels like a huge waste of time. But it's also incredibly stupid not to do it. FFFUUUU.

Dean Rodriguez responds on his blog: http://deansblog.law.northwestern.edu/2 ... s-a-reply/

Content aside, I think it is great they are openly debating legal education with an eye to improving it.
Great articles. Thanks for the links! I laughed at McGinnis and Mangas protesting that they didn't choose the headline. An illustration of how even the WSJ falls prey to sensationalism.

You guys will have to imagine how THRILLED I am that the questions are the same as last year. I completed it then, but of course I was removed from consideration when I deferred. But my essays will work again this time, with only slight changes!
*happy dance*

Need Access, OTOH, can DIAF. How I hate that thing. :x

Left-field question- is there an NU Law Ski Club? And no, this is not a drug joke.

I've looked up the Illinois "ski resorts." The club would have to travel a LOT.

My snowboard is staying home in Oregon.

Search Wisconsin ski resorts. It's no Colorado (it's no Poconos, for that matter) but there are some decent hills within a five hour drive. But if you're in Oregon you're probably spoiled with options as it is.

I'm sorry. The idea of a group of law students large enough to form an organized club taking that kind of time off to go skiing is ridiculous. Long day at work is taking its toll and I'm dreaming of the slopes. :(

Yeah...nothing in Wisconsin is going to compare to black diamonds in the Cascades or Rockies.

lol Poconos. (Hint: if they're round on top, they're not mountains!)

This just makes me sad:
http://www.skigranitepeak.com/media/pdf ... arison.pdf comparison of Wisconsin "resorts"

This is where I buy my season pass: --LinkRemoved-- (it's not huge, acreage-wise, but it has the vertical drop)

And this is my happiest place on earth: http://media.intrawest.com/whistler/trailmap/index.html#

--LinkRemoved-- <== wow, amazing 360 panorama on Blackcomb Glacier. It's reached via a gondola, 2 chairlifts, a t-bar lift and a short hike over a saddle. There's a sign at the top that says "Ski at your own risk. 6 miles down to nearest lift."

In all honesty, it's probably a good thing that there isn't a decent mountain anywhere nearby. I'd have a really hard time not taking off every weekend like I do now!

Mt. Hood's gotten 5+ feet of snow since like Saturday. It was great on Monday. :)

I still don't have access. I don't get it--there can't be so many deferred admits that it would take a lot of effort to send us a login! They said "sometime in January." 2/3 of the way through the month, almost...

ETA: ok, I guess I found the link (or FireFox remembered it). I still wish they'd contact me, but I'll stop whining now.

has anyone looked into NU's grad student housing? Or does anyone have experience/anecdotes about it? Specifically, are they nice or are they shitty, and how hard is it to get a spot if you're not married or you don't have a family?

Also, what is a good rent cap to set for Streeterville/Gold coast/River North? I've decided I REALLY want to be close to campus for 1L, and I'm willing to pay more for 1L and then move out and commute/save $$ for 2L/3L. Right now my cap is $1250-ish.

That's about what my cap is too. I could go up or down, depending on which utilities are included.

There's the one building across the street from the LS that is grad student family housing (single person unlikely to get in there), and all the rest of the grad student housing is up on the Evanston campus (way too far away).
Abbot Hall: http://www.law.northwestern.edu/current ... using.html

Worcester House is an apartment building owned by the hospital that has significantly lower rents, but I haven't found anyone with opnions or info on it, and it doesn't seem to have a website. Might be worth checking out after ASW.
