so what's the details regarding ASW? I'm hearing that they will provide $200 for airfare but no accommodations, is that right?

According to what rinkrat linked us from last year's ASW info, they will provide ONLY $150, but your flight must be over $200...AKA, you MUST spend $50.

In all this excitement today about new admits and ASW and putting real names to people, I just ordered yet another winter jacket I don't need (seriously, I have an entire closetful of winter jackets of varying weights: I do coats like most women do shoes) and my LS backpack (which I do actually need).

Oh, no no I couldn't care less <3 TBH I didn't even know you'd bumped me down until you mentioned that and I looked at the sheet XD! I thought no one had posted on it after me. I'm just incredibly OCD with these things (I spent like an hour yesterday at work reorganizing and editing the NH admissions spreadsheet to make it look prettier )

My experience with housing went like this. Your milage may vary. My take is that this is a renter's market, and so you can get pretty much anything you want, starting at whatever time you want, if you do research.

Also, they will let us send stuff to your facebook group. I have friends who had great success living with 2Ls or 3Ls. No idea if that would work with your timing.

every apartment building: "Whoa whoa whoa. Hold on dude. It's April. We have tons of apartments for May if you want, and maybe June."

May

me: "Hi, I'm looking for an apartment for mid-July or early August."
craigslist, padmapper: "Whoa whoa whoa. Dude you need to relax. It's May. I have a billion apartments for June or maybe July 1."

June, starting to freak out

What I heard from pretty much everyone close to school was "We get notice from renters 8 or 6 weeks before they move out, so talk to us then." However, some take waitlists of people to call when studios near school open up.

I'll add to Bumi's words and say that I've already contacted a couple of realtors that deal in rental condos, and they both said they'll be getting back to me ~45 days out from my expected move date when they'll have a better idea of which units will be coming available.

I was told that as well. I think it can be good to start researching now though so you get an idea of what neighborhood you want, your price range, and the general level of offerings. That way you'll know a good deal when you see one and will be able to snatch it up.
