They're not picky about dates for the health form as long as you get it in before school starts, but I need to get tested for measles and get a tetanus shot.
You should get on your transcripts ASAP though

I lucked out and the tetanus shot was 9 years ago so I didn't have to get anything done. I hate shots.Blumpbeef wrote:They're not picky about dates for the health form as longbas you get it in before school starts, but I need to get tested for measles and get a tetanus shot.

That is surprising! I consider myself a major procrastinator and even I've done that list.crumpetsandtea wrote:http://www.law.northwestern.edu/orientation/jd.html (Pre-Matriculation Guide link)Blumpbeef wrote:Orientation requirements? Are you talking about omeing other than sending transcripts?

I don't think they care much about the health form, I e-mailed them a while ago saying mine would be late and they just said to get it in before classes start.
As far as books go, do they just slap us with a bill at orientation and give them to us? Or are we supposed to buy them before?

I might say something like "while trying not to fall asleep in my law preview class, I learned that this old DOS emulator and game I downloaded is wicked awesome," but I promise not to do the other thing.Eugenie Danglars wrote:These are good reason, imo, to take the class. But for the love of spaghetti, don't ever start a sentence with "In my law preview class, we learned..." to your classmates. It's beyond annoying. If you feel like you have invaluable info to share, you probably don't. But if you really do, frame it in some other way. Not that you would, rink, but just fyi.
FFS, the Law Preview schedule shows 4-hour lectures. FOUR HOURS. That is going to be a struggle.

When do we have an idea of what books we'll need - is there usually time to order them from amazon?

You can see what books are assigned for what class already, but you just don't know what section you're in. We got that info a few days before orientation started, IIRC. So then you can either buy them at the bookstore (if you want to spend a fortune) or buy them on Amazon and get them there in 2 days with Prime. You'll have first day readings so you do need a book ASAP once you have your section number. However, a lot of profs post the reading on blackboard in pdf form to be nice.kerflux wrote:When do we have an idea of what books we'll need - is there usually time to order them from amazon?
Edit: also SFPIF sells used casebooks for a decent price--$50 across the board I think

This. There will be a booksale by SFPIF during orientation, so you can get some books there.
Also, none of my profs posted the first readings for us. One of my books wasn't Prime eligible, so I had to use a library copy the first week.

IKEA PARTY UPDATE
Aug 18 looks like a good date for the group IKEA trip. If you want in, let me know. If you already indicated interest, check you PMs soon. If you can't go that day, but want to go or want to order stuff and avoid shipping/delivery costs, PM me and I might be able to help.

I'd be down to go - I get in on 8/6 so I'm hoping to have most of the essentials by then, but I'm sure I'll still need some things

Where can we get all the necessary orientation information? As in, where/when/why/what/who/etc? Or do we need to wait a bit longer for that.
