I'm not sure when you guys get access to the listserv, but one of my friends is running a school-wide fantasy league, too.

I'm taking a late flight into Chicago and don't really want to deal with public transportation, can anyone ballpark how much a taxi will cost from Midway -> Streeterville?

I did Streeterville to OHare for $40. I think OHare is a couple miles further, so it should be around that, maybe a little cheapersplitsplat wrote:I'm taking a late flight into Chicago and don't really want to deal with public transportation, can anyone ballpark how much a taxi will cost from Midway -> Streeterville?

Dear god, what is with the eight-page Wimbledon play-by-play by the dean's wife on his blog?
In other news: bought 3 carts of Ikea furniture last night, filled two vehicles, and still have to go back for my (purple!!) loveseat and ottoman. I hope it all fits in my little bitty Chicago apartment!
I can't identify it all by box, but that is a loft bed, desk, bookshelf, entertainment center, dining set, armchair, dresser, mattress and bed linens.

Oh my. Two semicolons in the first two sentences and 700 words before the first paragraph break. And it's about tennis.rinkrat19 wrote:http://deansblog.law.northwestern.edu/2 ... wimbledon/Samara wrote:LOL link?rinkrat19 wrote:Dear god, what is with the eight-page Wimbledon play-by-play by the dean's wife on his blog?

I only skimmed it to see if the entire thing was tennis. (It was.)Samara wrote:Oh my. Two semicolons in the first two sentences and 700 words before the first paragraph break. Blog posts about the dean and his wife trying new Chicago restaurants: fine. Even cute.
Rambling recaps of sporting events in foreign countries to which I will probably never be able to afford going, while on international trips of dubious utility, presumably paid for with my tuition money: Less fine.

Can you guys recommend any particular apartment complexes? I'm trying to keep it ~1000/mo and within a mile (walking distance) of the LS

Are you aiming to live in a broom closet or get a roommate? If you answered no to both of those questions, you are going to the wrong school, bro.kerflux wrote:Can you guys recommend any particular apartment complexes? I'm trying to keep it ~1000/mo and within a mile (walking distance) of the LS

I know that most 1Ls like to live near campus, and as a 0L I welcome a slapdown by existing students on this point, but being from Chicago I really don't think living in Lincoln Park (not to mention the Gold Coast) would be a huge strain. Your money goes so much further, and you'd get to live in a neighborhood with an actual nightlife, etc.
I guess my question is, why the emphasis on living so close?

I don't get it either. I'm going to be living in Lakeview and it will only take me about 20 mins or so on the express bus. Walking a mile away is still going to be like 15 mins. Not to mention all the upsides of more space, things to do, etc.basilseal wrote:I know that most 1Ls like to live near campus, and as a 0L I welcome a slapdown by existing students on this point, but being from Chicago I really don't think living in Lincoln Park (not to mention the Gold Coast) would be a huge strain. And every current student posting in here has recommended living not in Streeterville, IIRC.

Under 1300 and stretch to 1400 if necessary.
I just want to make sure I don't end up homeless if it comes down to it, so I'm looking at anything I can get.
