Thanks, that is a helpful Draft Schedule! A little confused how some mandatory for all items are purple instead of black but I'll figure it out!Eugenie Danglars wrote:I'd start here. http://www.law.northwestern.edu/orientation/NorthwesternorBust wrote:Where can we get all the necessary orientation information? Tip: most of the mandatory things arent mandatory.NorthwesternorBust wrote:Thanks, that is a helpful Draft Schedule! Definitely do everything the first two days and the cocktail reception (free booze). Do not feel bad at all about skipping portal or anything involving susie spies roth.NorthwesternorBust wrote:Don't tell me that. What are you talking about? Portal was by far THE MOST HELPFUL set of meetings I've ever sat through. Had it not been for portal I would never have made it through 1L.splitmuch wrote:Definitely do everything the first two days and the cocktail reception (free booze). Seriously. splitmuch is correct, go to the first few days, meet people, get a locker buddy, drink free booze. While I would recommend going to portal just in case they decided to start caring about attendance, and because you can probably meet a few people in the groups they put you in, it is an utter waste of time.

Did we meet you at ASW or were you a lurker back then? It's hard to keep track of everyone's TLS names sometimes...splitsplat wrote:trying to decide whether it would be weird to try and friend everyone in the fb group. hmmm

It's mainly been used as a tool to organize meetups. In true splitter fashion, we lack aspie douchelords talking about their accomplishments and life story...instead we have people who want to get crunk at happy hour.kerflux wrote:Yes, lol. So I went back to edit my post because I thought I might've come off a little rude and now it's immortalized in your response
Lol @ aspie douchelords though, from what I glean on these forums that seems more a UChi specialty?

Hahaha, I've heard stories of FB aspie-ness from a variety of schools - people literally writing out their life stories as an introduction on the Class of 20__ FB page, and most notably a 7-9 paragraph FB post about gunners (ending by saying "I can't help but wonder - is that me?" ). We're pretty lucky, I think. Everyone in the FB page seems really cool and friendly.
ETA: More winners: a post that says "Congratulations to all of you for being the winning sperm and developing into who you are today." and a 6 paragraph introductory post in which the guy offers to PM people his PS 'upon request.'

Don't skip portal unless you want to have a chat about why you skipped with a dean. Protip- don't skip things where they take attendance.splitmuch wrote:Definitely do everything the first two days and the cocktail reception (free booze). I have arrived!
I have 2 bags of clothes, a cat, a litter box, a laptop, and an air mattress that needs batteries to inflate.
I'm also starving, but am reluctant to venture out in the heat.

Unless I and a couple other people I know were extraordinarily lucky, hey dont take attendance at portal. Did you hear of ppl having convos with the dean?Eugenie Danglars wrote: Don't skip portal unless you want to have a chat about why you skipped with a dean. Also I know for a fact they dont take attendance day 1 (which is why I skipped day 2)....

And there is no way this could possibly change. While this was true last year, I think everyone should go to day 1 just in case they start taking attendance. Plus you may meet some people. I ended up meeting one of my best friends at the portal session. We bonded over how awful it was, and the fact that we actually had people in the room gunning it. Probably the most famous rising 2L gunner there is.splitmuch wrote:Unless I and a couple other people I know were extraordinarily lucky, hey dont take attendance at portal. Hey, RE: the IKEA trip...can we do it in the afternoon or is it going to be in the morning? If we can do it in the afternoon, that'd be great because then I can get paid to proctor an LSAT PT on campus from 9-2 that day
