What list? The conditions of offer?
I have to look at my letter but it said something about a list that was attached. Maybe it was the conditions of offer. I was so excited I forgot what I was reading.
EDIT: It was the conditions of offer. LOL

Descartes, did you originally get a deferral offer or did you request one? And if you did request one, any idea how hard it is to get one from Mich?

I requested one from the waitlist. They don't know you want to defer unless you ask (they aren't NW, in other words). It's certainly not hard, especially if you're accepted already, and if you have a compelling reason. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have specifics you'd like to discuss.

I feel silly but I'm kind of confused as to how summer start works. Are we considered part of the regular 1L class and part of that curve and what not? Or are we considered separate? Do we finish ahead of them the first year or are we just given the option to finish ahead in later years?

Each section is curved to that section (which makes sense as you have different classes/profs. So I have 90 other students with whom I have pretty much all of the same classes. Each of those classes is curved to the same ~3.2.
My understanding of summer start is that you do summer, fall, winter 1L. Fall, winter 2L. Then Fall 3L.

Oh, okay. Thanks.
So do they have a class rank? How do you know if you are at the top/middle/bottom? I know each school does it somewhat differently and I'm fairly oblivious as to how these things work.

We don't rank. There is a clerkship letter from Dean Baum which says roughly what GPA = what percentile but it is based upon graduating GPAs and upper-level courses curve higher...so it's a little off (.01-.05'ish depending on the part of the curve...based on people who have transferred and received their rank.)

I am so excited about going to Michigan that I can't focus on anything else! I've been trying to grade the same stack of papers for a week...
I wish I already knew you all and that we lived near one another -- I'd throw us all a huge party!

I'm in New England and would be down for the same. There aren't enough people in our FB group yet though.
