Re: NYU Class of 2015
I'm really attracted by the 1BR 210sqft in D'ag, although I'm not quite sure how small that would feel. Gotta step up my research on this soon

+1. Spouse and I will be paying double rent for me to go to NYU (since he'll be staying in DC)sfreuden wrote:3 BR in D'Ag - I want to minimize my rent payments as much as possible.

Is anyone paying sticker to go to NYU vs. scholarships at other T14 schools?

Re: NYU Class of 2015
I'm strongly considering NYU sticker. Interested in PI/Int'l work, and NYU fits the bill there. Figuring out if I can stomach turning down aid and lower COL at Michigan and Northwestern...

Re: NYU Class of 2015
I turned down a scholly at Georgetown (which also would have kept me in the same city as my spouse, which is hard to quantify in dollars) to pay sticker at NYU. I haven't gotten my NYU aid package yet, but I expect to pay sticker. Worth it for the PI, especially since I plan to use LRAP.erikjc wrote:Is anyone paying sticker to go to NYU vs. scholarships at other T14 schools?

Debating on $$ from Cornell vs. NYU (haven't received fin aid yet from NYU). I really want NYU, but can't justify sticker esp because I want big law in NYC...

I'm confused by this part of your statement. Could you explain what you mean by that?spiritniffler189 wrote:Debating on $$ from Cornell vs. NYU (haven't received fin aid yet from NYU). I really want NYU, but can't justify sticker esp because I want big law in NYC...

Re: NYU Class of 2015
Yeah, I meant that the one thing Cornell seems to be good at is big law in NYC. While NYU would give me a better shot, I don't think it would be worth $210K+ if I'm looking at sticker at NYU. If I was interested in PI, I'd definitely go to NYU over Cornell.crooked wrote:I'm confused by this part of your statement. Re: NYU Class of 2015
Yup. So it was more of a pre-application decision that I'd rather pay sticker at NYU over what I guessed would be around $54K from Michigan (which I ended up getting), but an active decision nonetheless.crooked wrote:Didn't you apply ED though?Yeshia90 wrote:Yo yo yo yo yo.erikjc wrote:Is anyone paying sticker to go to NYU vs. scholarships at other T14 schools?

For those of you who have already set up your NYU home and email accounts, are you emailed with credentials of some sort a few days after depositing or do you just set it up yourself after you send the deposit in?

Posting to come back later and read this thread, but I'll be starting the graduate tax program this fall.

You get an email with your NYU netID and another one with some sort of ID number. I got mine a little over a week after I submitted my deposit for what it's worth.

For those with scholarship offers, anyone know exactly what tax info we have to submit and who we have to submit it to? I saw conflicting information on this.

Does anyone know if we can be reconsidered for merit aid after 1L, as we are for need-based aid?

Re: NYU Class of 2015
If you have the grades (top ~10%, or whatever) for a transfer to YHS, I think most T14 schools will offer you some kind of scholarship in an attempt to keep you there. From what I understand (and I could be completely wrong about this), I think you actually have to apply as a transfer student to leverage funds, so there's some brinksmanship involved. Basically, I don't think you can go to the financial aid office with top whatever percent grades and demand one of those novelty oversized checks with your name on it.crumpledq wrote:Does anyone know if we can be reconsidered for merit aid after 1L, as we are for need-based aid?

Re: NYU Class of 2015
Thanks for the insight. No one can plan on performing well enough 1L year to have a viable transfer threat, obviously, but it's interesting to hear that schools might considering providing merit aid if you do well enough and indicate that you might actually leave.PigBodine wrote:If you have the grades (top ~10%, or whatever) for a transfer to YHS, I think most T14 schools will offer you scholarships in attempt to keep you there. No, I just filled mine out. Are you trying to access the law-specific housing application, linked from the admitted students site? The NYU Home housing application link is for undergrads and grad students only.bk641 wrote:anyone else have problems even getting the housing app to open?
