Re: UVA Class of 2015
Now that the holidays are past... are those who are committed to attending at this point (mostly ED I'm thinking) beginning to look at housing? I know the Jeffersonian begins accepting application 1/1 and from past year's discussions, seems competitive for spots even if you submit early.

I'm an RD admit but stuck in the snow belt and obsessively looking at housing. Will probably start throwing down a deposit toward the mid/end of February since it's highly unlikely I will get in anywhere else that's better.tener wrote:Now that the holidays are past... are those who are committed to attending at this point (mostly ED I'm thinking) beginning to look at housing? Re: UVA Class of 2015
I deferred from last year. I partied last year at Ivy Gardens during Admitted Student Day in early April, and it was a good spot. It's where like 50% of the 1L class lives. Other admitted students were finding roommates and putting in their applications to live there during that weekend, so there's probably time (if you want to live in Ivy). Anybody else have any insight on this?catholicgirl wrote:I'm an RD admit but stuck in the snow belt and obsessively looking at housing. The Jeffersonian is closer to the Law Grounds and I think you can get a furnished place.

Also.....it's probably good to post these links up here every couple of pages for new classmates who don't read the early pages of this thread. Congrats to all of the RD's that are starting to hear back!!
Here is the link to a Facebook group created by one of our classmates for the Class of 2015:

Here is one created by the Admissions Office:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/204227316298315/
The second one doesn't seem to be monitored very often. I put in a request to join a couple of months ago and it's still pending!

Does it cost $$ just to put in an application on January 1st at Ivy? I want to put in an app but would likely put in for a 2 bedroom and then have to find a roomate? I have no idea how this process works. Anyone who has any ideas please let me know

Re: UVA Class of 2015
Looking for a roommate still at one of these spots. I'm pretty well organized and can get along with pretty much anyone. I am conservative, but party like a liberal, and respect all political viewpoints, and see their arguments. Heck, I'm a zionist but see Hamas' logic so my pt is I am a pretty reasonable and easy to get along with dude. I also don't plan on doing too much work at home, am not very loud but don't mind noise. Just looking to save 300/mo if possible. If not, I'll throw a deposit down for a studio. I can get drinks, coffee, hookah, sushi-just email me.

Re: UVA Class of 2015
I am putting in an app to Jeffersonian tonight (have draft saved to my phone since I will be out). Should I even send in app for Ivy? Its more expensive and seems to be shitty (er) than Jeffersonian. I put in for a 2 bedroom with a den (the extra square footage is worth 40 bucks) and will be looking for a roomate at Admitted students day. Is this a bad idea?YCrevolution wrote:Huntington Village Townhomes: http://www.huntington-village.com/AssumptionRequired wrote:What is this?catholicgirl wrote:So I hold off until end of January to put in an application at the Ivy or Huntington am I totally screwed?
Run by the same people who run Ivy Gardens.
Some insight from someone there is appreciated.

I did this last night as well for Jeffersonian; hit send when the ball dropped in NYC on whatever TV program was broadcasting it at the party I was at.AssumptionRequired wrote:I am putting in an app to Jeffersonian tonight (have draft saved to my phone since I will be out). Although, I noticed on my phone that it turned over to 12:00 a.m. a good 15 seconds or so before the "LIVE" broadcast in Times Square indicated it was midnight. Not wanting to get punted for submitting early, I waited for Carson Daly to tell me it was midnight, then submitted, and then received an email from the Jeffersonian this morning indicating that I am in the 20's on the waiting list. Damn you Carson Daly and your time delay!!!

Re: UVA Class of 2015
Anyone know any good apartment locations near the corner (beside that large grand marc apartments which looks way way overpriced)...I'd rather drive 5 minutes to the law school each morning and be within walking distance to the bars at night and not have to walk 20 min in the dark to apartments closer to the law school after going out (and Im asssuming the corner is where the majority of them are)...Thanks

Haha I forgot (of course) even after having saved the draft in my phone to send while out. But I sent at like 1:30am EST and my number is in the high 50s I think. Hope this still gives me a realistic shotI did this last night as well for Jeffersonian; hit send when the ball dropped in NYC on whatever TV program was broadcasting it at the party I was at.

Most people just get a cab back from the corner. It's relatively cheap, and cabs are plentiful.miamiheat wrote:Anyone know any good apartment locations near the corner (beside that large grand marc apartments which looks way way overpriced)...I'd rather drive 5 minutes to the law school each morning and be within walking distance to the bars at night and not have to walk 20 min in the dark to apartments closer to the law school after going out (and Im asssuming the corner is where the majority of them are)...Thanks

Yeah, i guess, but If I go out a lot like I do now, I'd rather live closer to the bars and be able to walk home in 3 minutes than have to spend money on a cab every night I go out.dailygrind wrote:Most people just get a cab back from the corner.
