Everyone (except my class, of course) finally got their legal writing grades yesterday. Had at least 3 people come up to me and complain about their grades. One C and two B-s. Curved to a B.

Wish I knew my grade!

I don't think you did anything wrong.

It sounds like she had a grade that was below average, was unhappy with that, and took it out on you.

If "Oh my God, I only had an A-. I'm really unhappy I didn't get an A!" sounds bad to anyone outside of the top of the class, maybe "I'm disappointed with my B+" sounds similar to someone who got a B-. I'm not saying that that is justified, or that the B- recipient should walk off in a huff. That's pretty ridiculous.

inconsistency in OP's accounts... thus, her motives for posting this are officially suspect and the 'antagonist' in our narrative gets benefit of the doubt

The fact that you said we should emulate gunners means you are one and therefore worthy of scorn.

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. I came here after what I found to be an upsetting experience to get feed back.

So I don't know what you are questioning or what "inconsistency" you are talking about. The fact is, this wasn't supposed to be something negative. And I can't possibly understand what your motives would be for turning it into that.

But I can assure you I had no other motive except for getting feedback and support. And if people want to antagonize me thats their own problem.

Grading these memo assignments can be a little ridiculous. We are supposed to be learning writing technicalities here, not engaging in epic battle. Worse is when they don't tell you what they are really looking for. Small bullshit like citing to the regional reporter over the state reporter is important stuff here; I was one of two people who cited to the regional one in the class the first go. This was worth extra points. Seriously.

The substantiative classes work through really difficult stuff. Writing class is a lot about measuring up to the specific expectations of legal writing.

Things like this are the very reason I ignored every person my 1L year. They were in the way of my A. The stress of 1L year, and the sad reality that sinks into people who realize they won't do as well as they want is simply destructive to be around. I was never rude to anyone, never talked grades with anyone, and no one knew who I was. Thats exactly how I wanted it.

this thread is a bit ridiculous, but it's my opinion that if someone asks you a loaded question about you wanting to be above average then you're completely entitled to asking them a loaded question about why they don't want to be above average.

I'm not sure if this guy is a gimmick or the real thing. If you're not a troll, I'll say that it sounds like you sold your soul for that 4.0 and I'm wondering how it's worked out for you since.
