Haven't you heard? It's BY FAR the most accurate estimation of how you did on a law school test.

Anyone that has posted word count - what does that correlate into lengthwise in number of pages? (and are you talking single or double spaced?)

This is almost as stupid as comparing penis lengths in chat.

Here the professors tend to require 12pt Times New Roman double-spaced.

6400 words double-spaced comes out to 21 pages.
4500 words double-spaced comes out to 16 pages.

That's my two finals so far.

We compare everything else on here, so why not?

Word limits FTL...

I wrote the first two questions of today's exams - short ones with harsh time allocations, at 40 words per minute. They were followed by a really long, ultra uber complicated hypo / policy type question. The kind of question you see in hell. I wrote that at 24 words per minute, but had very good structure in there, organization and flow, since it was a 1 1/2 hour question. The directions to the question were such a clusterfuck that many people didn't even follow it. In all I typed 1,700 words per hour!

I think I did pretty well despite the relatively low word rate on the last question because I structured the thing to address the professor's pet topic that she wrote in her best law review article and has brought up in class. I am sure virtually nobody addressed this extremely important issue because you more or less have to build the whole essay up like a ladder as to the top of a christmas tree you want to put a star on. I am not sure that the execution was very pretty, the issue is ultra convoluted, but at least I got at some compelling arguments and addressed both sides.

My god could you at least wait until grades come out before being this obnoxious?

Saying things like this just make that B- taste soooo much worse.

I dunno, OP could be that guy that studies 12hr a day, makes LR, graduates top of his class, and becomes that really awkward sociophobic prof that can quote the Restatement backward and forward, that you just know lays awake at night wondering why with all they know and all they've accomplished, they still can't figure out how to get laid.

Or he could be the guy that worships that prof and fantasizes about being him, and then still gets a B- for unoriginal thinking. That would be really funny.

It's always possible he could be that guy, but unlikley. Just like I could be that guy who walks in to the exam, takes the shrinkwrap wrap off his never-read casebook and proceeds to book the exam. Odds are against both of us.

Y'all are making me think there is something wrong with my classes. Every single exam question has a word limit.

I long for the question where I can actually write down everything I want to say ... articulately and without having to use contractions to save a word.

I was too preoccupied with taking my exam to remember to do a word count. I wish I could contribute to the douchebaggery.

The exam software my school uses doesn't do a word count, though it does count characters. So for two questions on a three hour Contracts exam today, I had character counts of (approximately) 19500 and 18000. Take that for whatever its worth.

based on my exam software's running character count.. 7,000 - 8,000 words for torts.

Caoyun, the Penn exam soft has word count, you just need to hit the Tools menu at the top.

My contracts exam this morning was miserable. Professor has always used an issue spotter as the large essay question on the past exams, and this year it was instead a weird policy/ hypo hybrid. The hypo part was easy, but I'm sure I did terribly on the policy part.

It's really frustrating too, because I felt like I knew black letter contract law, and we spent virtually no time discussing policy. This came out of nowhere for me and everywhere in the class, and the people who will be rewarded are those that are better at bullshitting. I know you have to expect a curve ball, but it doesn't change the fact that it completely sucks when so much is riding on it.
