I only know of one smoker at my entire law school. I'm sure there are more, but they just don't admit it to me.

Just food for thought: I wouldn't be surprised that "somebody" would send all firms in OCI letters alerting them of this.. you know, to thin the pool out a bit.

You might be right. There's no reason for anyone to tell me anyway since I don't smoke. I just find it odd that others in this thread know so many smokers.

It's not difficult in certain locations.

maybe if they could get in an anonymous tip, and an anonymous tip that a student smokes weed seems to be a bit... underwhelming

if it wasn't anonymous there would be a greater risk of that somebody getting outed as a major douche and sink their own chances

That's why when there is reasonable suspicion, most companies follow up with a drug test. Can you imagine the liability that the firm would run into if they were told, anonymously or not, that a person did drugs and a firm's client lost a case that he was, exclusively or not, on?

I ways able to figure out who the smokers were in my school by using "prop 19" as a modern "Are you a friend of dorothy"

I'd be like "So what do you think of prop 19" and if they answered something negative about weed i'd cross them off my list of potential smokers, then again, some people who said they supported it were libertarians who are against the drug war/prohibition but too uptight to smoke themselves.

My reasons for supporting are purely economic in scope. I think all pot smokers are going to hell but I won't stop that from lining my pockets with cool crisp cash.

So...expose yourself to major backlash (I doubt firms like narcs) with the benefit of "thinning out the pool" by one person? No one's doing that.

Wait, pot smokers are going to hell, but those who exploit pot smokers for money are in the clear?

Whose being exposed if it's anonymous?

Besides, if you're top 20% in a 150 student class, cutting out 3 students in any possible way would increase your chances by 10% provided those you narc on are also top 20%.

ITE, every bit helps, no?

No need for apologies. There really are people out there who think like that.

No telling who will drug test you and basically ruin your entire law school investment. I find it comical that there are people in a top 14 law school smoking pot however I wouldn't suggest glorifying it because YOU made it out. Some kids can't handle all the chemical reactions THC causes in ones brain on top of studying. If your smoking pot in law school and getting away with it...your days are numbered and you should drop that habit. lol your probably smoking crack if someone offers you

Your a retard.

I know this is way back from page 1... but did no one catch this? lol.

As for the actual topic- The majority of people I know who smoked regularly in UG continued to smoke regularly in LS. I don't know anyone who picked it up after entering law school, but I do know a few people who stopped. As for side effects, some people experience them-- me being one of them. I can't touch it (even though I want to) because of the awful reaction I have to it. My boyfriend, on the other hand, has smoked excessively for years. He no longer takes his ADD meds and his anger management is MUCH better. I expect that there will be a lot less pot smokers in LS than there are in my UG english department (as it seems the english dept. is full of them! probably 60% or so!).

I divulged to a classmate that I enjoy smoking pot once in awhile. She looked at me like I had grown an extra head in front of her.

Aside from drinking, most law school kids are weak sauce straight-edgers.

Last week, the girl sitting next to me in class brought up lollapalooza, and when i mentioned how i had some killer "brownies" at the last one, she kind of turned pale, now she doesn't really talk to me before/after class. :|

Bunch of squares man.

I got an offer from a firm recently, and the hiring partner was a former government agent. He was real old school, and he was telling us at the reception about how weed used to be legal in D.C. before Reagan. He told us that he used to smoke joints walking down the street, and all the other applicants were like OMG! It was one of those moments where you're really not sure what to say because it's a cool story and all, but you don't even want to hint that you smoke weed to the hiring partner. An inopportune remark at that moment could cost you the job.

Edit: That same hiring partner basically told me in the interview that coke should be legal too. He seems like an interesting boss. I'm really glad I got that offer.
