Thanks.

you see, there are these people who have heard of this thing called 'biglaw.' they say it pays lots of money. they think if they don't 'get in,' then they will be in 'shitlaw,' where they won't make any money, and they will never become a real person.

thing is, they are 0L's who don't know anything about anything. their lives up until law school have been full of fantasy, because they still don't have a clue about reality.

From "shitlaw" urban dictionary entry: "When you see the sleazeball ambulance chasers on tv advertising their legal services, that is shitlaw."

I would have to disagree with this. The plaintiff's lawyers I see on TV are like Ken Nugent (aka, "the strong arm," from his commercials), guys who have made MILLIONS of dollars as trial lawyers. I don't know if I would be calling the work of any attorney who makes that much money "shit." Isn't the money the whole justification for why work in Biglaw isn't shitlaw, I mean, it's the most boring, tedious, dehumanizing work there is, but it's not shitlaw because of the money.

Really?
Your first year out of law school? More likely than not.

In general? Hardly.
How could something be "More likely than not" and "Hardly" be "In general"?

EDIT: For context. Inappropriate use of Ebonics.

Because right out of law school is different than law in general?

What's the obsession with "big law?" Is it because you think you'll make a lot of money? Is it because you simply do whatever you're paid to do, i.e. hired gun? What kind of "big law" are you looking for? Is that civil, corporate, criminal...?
