what is the perfect law school bag?

Post by sweetdreams21 » Tue Jun 30, 2009 11:26 pm

I did some searching but couldnt find a specific thread on this. What sort of book bags work the best to cart around all those massive case books and laptops? Would you prefer to use a backpack? messanger? large tote? two bags? roller bags (oh god please say no)?

Interested in finding out what people prefer and what they suggest.

I got by fine with just a regular backpack... just make sure you have a sleeve to put the laptop in so it doesn't get damaged. But if you are a girl you might want one of the bags you can drag.

Hmmm I was thinking of just a massive tote bag to fit all my books and (small) laptop. Not sure it will eventuallly start to hurt though!

I rock this bad boy:

It's the REI Alpine Plus 50, a daypack that is great for both hiking and carrying all my crap to school. I am a summer-start 1L currently biking 8 miles a day to campus, and this is a great way to comfortably carry my books and laptop. There's room to spare for a change of clothes and towel for hitting the gym, too.

I'm getting that one (in black) for my laptop, and it will match perfectly my black JS messenger bag.

I've been saving my pennies for this one, the brooks barbican. Should make a nice upgrade to my timbuk2 messenger (also recommended) Note: all pictures taken from internet.

All those seem small for all the books and a laptop, or am I just talking nonsense?

This bag is legit. Laptop pocket, book pockets, etc. There are also three small pockets (one on each side and one on the front) that allow you to carry snacks or small items (allergy meds, for example). This bag has been with me to class and for gigs, and I've taken it on the bus and on planes. I've carried upwards of 50 pounds worth of dj kit in it, and it keeps rockin'. The handle on top is especially useful when carrying it through crowded spaces, and the straps are very well padded.

From what I've observed as an exchange student at a T14 law school, students tend toward either a sturdy, yet fashionable backpack or the dreaded luggage on wheels. A lot depends on your course load for that particular day or whether you will stay to study at the library after class. I made do with this, although I only had one class and did not bring my laptop:

--ImageRemoved--.

It's a travesty to see the luggage on wheels being toted around, but for some people it just makes the most sense since carrying a ton of books would be physically demanding. Also, lockers in the law school building may help ease the pain, possibly assuaging the concern that you will look like a poor man's consultant on a flight from Dallas to Austin with overhead compliant luggage in tow.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
