should i take property
it's not a requirement here, but i don't want to miss out on important stuff/fundamentals
i'm still flexible on my career plan but would like to do civil rights work, if that matters at all

Re: should i take property
I'n not really big on taking subjects just for the bar, but property is a huge part of the bar exam and it would be a real pain in the ass to learn it ALL from scratch.
But I had an awesome prof and actually really liked property.

Property sucks, but you should take it.
Also, what school doesn't require property?

I sort of feel like if you really do go to Yale, it stops mattering.
(But I thought also NYU maybe doesn’t require it? Could well be wrong.)
Edit: wrong school, oh well.

Feel free to skip it - just be warned that you'll be missing out on all the property in-jokes that unite virtually all American lawyers. You won't get into any good-natured arguments about whether you adversely possessed a book or library carrel, you'll never get to say "springing executory interest" to general mirth, and you'll never meet the precocious toddler, the fertile octogenarian, or the unborn widow. It's a sobering thought.

Yea, I wrongly assumed TTT. If I was at Yale I would have not done it. Probably would still at Michigan, but whatever.A. Nony Mouse wrote:I sort of feel like if you really do go to Yale, it stops mattering.

Re: should i take property
property helps with wills/trusts/estates some.
you should take property but you'll probably be cursing TLS next semester when you're writing your outline. property is a beast of a class and a good chunk of the class isn't intuitive at all.

It's like 1/6 or 1/7 of your MBE score on the bar. Evidence too, but evidence is imo much easier to learn.

it also depends on what you're going to take in lieu of property. if it's going to be a seminar or something that's a guaranteed A, then maybe you should just take the GPA booster heading into OCI.

It might be helpful with some environmental stuff? My prof was really interested in zoning and eminent domain though.chandhi wrote:ok so yes important for the bar, v good to know, thank you. do you think taking property helped you with other classes in law school?BuddyHoller wrote:All of this.A. Mostly I can’t quite imagine *not* having taken it, but then I feel the same way about evidence and plenty of people don’t miss that at all either.

If you don't get adverse possession jokes after the professor spending two weeks (or was it three?) on the subject, I don't know what to tell you.sublime wrote:Yea, I wrongly assumed TTT. We probably could have spent more than 2 days on real property though.
