Northwestern...the professor is Redish (of Marcus, Redish, & Sherman casebook fame). Another gem:

"You might be thinking, 'Redish, what are you talking about?' Well, first, it's 'Professor Redish' to you...."

"And then along comes that pesky court jester, the 10th amendment"

I wasn't paying attention so I don't know what it was in reference to.. but this much I caught.

The best part is that it's a recycled line. It's quoted exactly in an old outline I have...

Professor asks a student what he got out of a difficult to follow English case:

Student: "I got a lot out of it, it was good. There was some discussion of the history of the law, eventually there were some facts... and then it took me on a sort of personal journey."

Prof: "Where did this journey take you?"

Student: "Starbucks."

He's a fun prof, and he really hates Scalia (which is always fun when we get to an opinion written by him... especially if Redish agrees with the outcome).

If you read the Semtek v. Lockheed opinion (531 U.S. 497), Scalia quoted from his casebook, out of context, to support a ruling against Semtek - who Redish was representing. That case discussion was AWESOME in class.

In Torts

"Just as was adequately shown in the last episode of Seinfeld..."

There is usually at least one Seinfeld comment a class.

In Prop. Discussing Implied Warranties of Habitability:

Stud 1 (Auburn Grad): These are good because they force slum lords to improve the quality of housing. Take for instance college towns like Auburn...

Stud 2 (Bama Grad): Wait a minute. Do these rules apply to trailer parks!

Later on discussing pet restricitions:

Stud 1: Obviously I would rather live in the half a million dollar high rise condo but you have to consider other thing like pets restrictions.

Stud 3: (FSU grad) Usually the high rises don't allow goats!

Since I haven't started law school yet I don't have any good law prof quote but I do have a pretty good quote from one of my UG history profs.

Random Student: Some incorehent rambling statement regarding Greek phalanx tactics

Prof: "That is a very interesting point you make, Justin. Completely and totally incorrect, but interesting. Now please sit before I have an aneurism."

As our evidence professor is berating the class for not being in our seats at 5:33 according to his watch, a girl points out that the clock that we can see says 5:29...

"Well I notice y'all chose the slowest clock"

Same professor:

"It's not too late for you to drop out of law school and go to cosmetology school"

and a new one:

Prof: "Mr. [last name]"
Student: "No, sir, it's actually [actual last name]"
Prof: "Don't you lie to me! It's right here on my roll sheet!"

The quote's not funny but the picture is. In property (discussing Miller v. Lutheran Conference Camp Association):

Prof: Who know's what the Poconos are famous for? Without being too graphic; try to keep it clean.
Stud: It's known for couples get aways and honeymoons.
Prof: O.k. I can only show this for 3 seconds or I'll get in trouble. (Flashes the following picture on the screen for 2-3 seconds)

I had dental work done right before going to a class where the prof does not allow passes. My tongue was numb from the anesthetic causing me to slur and lisp words so I figured I should let the prof know nonetheless.

Me: "Profethor, my mouth ith numb from the dentitht. I'm having a hard time thpeaking. If you call on me in clath, it will be bad."

Prof: "Okay, but I might call on you anyway."

(haha, he did NOT, thank god)

Gunner: I agree

Prof. asking student if he's running for a SGA office:

Prof: Is that you poster I saw down there? It says not a sex predator? Catchy slogan!
Stud: Actually, it says "Not a Registered sex offender."

Two students that studied together and shared outlines for a whole semester take the same test. One received an A, the other a B-. They meet with the professor and point out that they had the same responses and reasoning yet received very different grades.

The professor holds the two exams and simply responds, "Before the cigar, after the cigar."

impact as a "transient" verb???

Do you mean impact as a transitive verb?

"I impacted the results of the meeting with my ideas."

The prof is right about that being an incorrect use. Boo on Oprah for staring the trend on that word.
