It doesn't really matter. There is a huge group of people just above and just below you and that group all has similar enough grades that firms aren't picking based on the transcript. Just practice interviewing, make sure everything looks polished, and get in front of as many NYC firms with big classes as possible.BizBro wrote:I can't believe that there can be 25% of the class below me or with a 3.1 too. Re: Rising 2L NYU 3.1. Need strategy
Is there a list here on TLS of sample CCN bidlists for bottom 1/3 of class?
I would love to have just a list of NY firms with larger summer classes that dip down to the low >3.1 gpas to research through.

You didn't find any with a forum search or reading through past NYU/Columbia OCI threads?

Below is a list of some firms I found while searching for what people at bottom 1/3 bid on. I don't think the person ordered it right . Also think it should include firms like Frank Fried and Milbank.
Would love more information in the right direction on where to start my search.
1. Baker McKenzie
2. Paul Hastings
3. Clifford Chance
4. Alston Bird
5. Hogan Lovells
6. Kaye Scholer
7. Katten Muchin
8. Linklaters
9. Hughes Hubbard
10. DLA Piper
11. Orrick
12. Willkie Farr
13. Dechert
14. Stroock Stroock
15. Greenberg Traurig
16. Kramer Levin
17. Kasowitz
18. Chadbourne Parke
19. Goodwin Procter
20. Morgan Lewis
21. Holland Knight
22. Seward Kissell
23. Bryan Cave
24. Foley Lardner
25. Hunton Williams
26. Akin Gump
27. Troutman Sanders

All of those would be good ones to include. Ask your career services office for more detailed information on the grades of people who get offers from those places and how many offers each one gives. From there you order the bidlist to maximize the number of interviews.

Related to class rank, does anyone know what the likely cutoff gpas are for each third of the class at NYU?BizBro wrote:I can't believe that there can be 25% of the class below me or with a 3.1 too. That's like 100 kids.

Received 7 callbacks (5 NY 2 small secondary) and 4 offers with 5 B's and a B- last year FYI. You're obviously in better shape than I was.
DC is probably not a good move (especially without ties) - NYC is the way to go considering NYU's reputation among New York firms. That bidlist looks really solid to me at least firm-wise (4/5 of my NY callbacks from last year are on your list); order-wise I'm not sure.
Do NOT be down about your grades. Just go into your interview and be confident and affable and you'll be good!

I'm kind of in a similar spot, maybe worse. Can I also get some info on those firms? Were any of them out of state?estamosjuntos wrote:Received 7 callbacks (5 NY 2 small secondary) and 4 offers with 5 B's and a B- last year FYI. You're obviously in better shape than I was.

I'm a CLS student in the exact same situation as biz. How confident can I/we be that we will get hired by the firms he just listed few posts above? Should I even bother going to V-20 summer recruitment events? And how would one go about finding firms to mass mail/what would you say in the emails? Sorry for all the questions. Kind of freaking out right now.

I ended up getting 10 CBs out of ~24-25 screeners so HTH. I mass mailed with no luck.

Do you mind sharing which firms you got CBs from? Or maybe PM me if you think that's too revealing.BizBro wrote:I ended up getting 10 CBs out of ~24-25 screeners so HTH. I mass mailed with no luck.
