What do people wear to graduation?

Can I just wear jeans and a t-shirt under my "gown"?

Most people will probably dress professionally. All the guys at my graduation worse slacks, dress shoes, and a tie. I think I had my jacket in the car for a reception after the ceremony.

Who is going to know? I plan to have my hood and gown on even after the ceremony.
