Public International Law & Policy Group

Postby txig » Thu Feb 13, 2014 3:39 pm

Hey guys,

I am applying for a position with the Public International Law & Policy Group on campus and they ask you to provide legal options to a PM of a country who wants to modify the Constitution. I was wondering if anyone had any experience? If so, could you proffer any advice or tips?

Thanks

This is what I do for a job, basically.

I'm assuming they told you what the country was. Look through the Constitution and use your general legal knowledge to evaluate where there are weaknesses. Are terms undefined? Major gaps in the law? Major gaps in human rights coverage that will make them a target for criticism? Do they discuss how treaties are treated and the supremacy of which laws will prevail?

I'm unclear from your question though of whether you are supposed to write a memo or just give opinions.
