Did I F myself on my torts final?

Our long essay, which was essentially an issue spotter hd a character count of 7,000 words. I was able to discuss about 7 issues but not as in depth as I would like to because of the character count. I also had to leave some issues out. Is this killer? Should I not have talked about an assault if in the fact pattern it merely stated that someone leaned over and said "you're going to pay for that"?. I think it warranted a discussion on assault. Did I screw up?

That assault sounds pretty dispositive to me. It generally requires an overt act, unless D has a known history of violence, and the apprehended contact needs to be imminent.

I can't really assess how much you did or didn't "F" yourself based solely on that information though.

D was already acting up at a baseball game. I can't remember the facts exactly but he was quite rowdy. Idk, I know what you mean, I just feel i wasn't able to substantiate my arguments because there so many issues to touch on.

Read up on Sodom & Gomorrah, then imagine your exam(s) as the cities, taking the exams as fiery meteors, and your position in life now as Lot's wife.

Don't look back.

Have a drink, talk to some non LS friends, watching a Christmas movie, then study for your next test. Seriously, thinking about your old exams is the worst thing to do. You can't change anything now.

I think you may be thinking of this exam as having a right and wrong answer. If you made a killer analysis on assault, then maybe you got rewarded. Based solely on the information provided, you have not done anything that should warrant concern.

I would be more concerned if I walked out of an exam thinking that I nailed it.

It's supposed to be hard, you're supposed to feel like you just got bent over and subjected to an IIED.

Stop thinking about it and move to the next, seriously.

You can never know ahead of time, and you don't have to spot every issue to do well.

Some kid finished our 4 hour exam in 2 hours. No POSSIBLE way he could have answered 29 multiple choice, 3 short answer, and one long ass essay in 2 hours...right?

Possible, but more likely he looked at 29 MC questions, 3 short answers, and a long essay and decided to drop out of law school in 2 hours.

Odd because Torts is not a difficult subject at all and he never struck me as not knowing his shit.

If you don't think torts is a difficult subject at all, I think you are not recognizing the complexity of the problem. It can get quite complex especially on issues of duty and causation.

Well, no subject in law school is "easy". I guess relative to my other subjects, the content seems fairly, how should i say...reasonable? heh heh heh

My first year, I missed a huge issue on Civ Pro. Huge. And not like "I think I missed something", but like, woke up in the middle of the night that night out of a dead sleep because I REALIZED I absolutely sure as fuck missed it. Basically, that entire essay question was toast.

I was sure I failed. It was all over. Would I get a C- or worse? I didn't know, but I was distraught. I sobbed. My husband patted my back consolingly. I emailed my mentor and my mom. They told me there was no way to know how bad it was. I was sure I'd lost my scholly and life was over.

I got a B+ (curve is a B).

You could be fine, you have no idea how much everyone else fucked up. Deep breaths.

On my torts final, i thought i failed. It kept me up so much that i calculated how well i needed to do in my other classes just to get back to median overall. I tried to remember the test as much as i could and what i touched on (to "remember" how it went and "see" how i did).

I ended up being fine. I got a B+, which is way better than i expected given the circumstances.

Don't worry. You did fine. Focus on your next exam.

Most 1L subjects are in fact easy, torts being the easiest. Bitch of it is that doesn't matter since it's curved.

Missing one issue, even a major one, usually isn't a grounds for major concern, even on a Torts final.

Sure, you probably are excluded from booking the class because of this, but missing one issue, even if fairly obvious, isn't exactly going to make or break you either.
