How do I read legal texts faster?

As the subject suggests, I am a very slow reader. I have googled some speed reading exercises but I still find that I read legal texts (cases primarily) incredibly slow. Do you guys have any tips on increasing speed and retaining information?

Don't speed read cases. Be patient and it will come with time.

Also, if your textbook has canned briefs (ex: High Court Case Summaries), look at those first. Then read the case. The briefs aren't always great or complete, but they give you an idea of what to look for. Saves an insane amount of time.

Cases can sometimes be excruciatingly boring to read. However, with time, you will be able to skim read and find the few things you actually need from the case
