That's depressing

Any ideas why essays were so bad

Not sure why but he didn't study nearly as much as he should have and even he knew that going in. He has an excellent non-law job and the law degree was paid for by his work so he didn't really care either.

Did he only study for the MBE or something? Because that's a pretty big fuckup to get a 150 and then basically get 0 on the essays.

I don't know that he even got around to studying for the essays. He is on vacation so I haven't had a chance to talk to him much.

Kentucky released the list of passers by name and of course my friends and I morbidly figured out who failed. Three of the missing names weren't surprising, another one is definitely smarter than me but I think suffers from pretty serious test anxiety, and a few of the rest were just plain surprising. Not sure what happened there.

Also, on a sad note, a girl who graduated last year has now taken and failed the bar three times. :( I can't imagine what that must feel like.

At this point, I honestly don't care about the result anymore.

I have imagined and dreamed about every possible scenario (passing, failing by a lot, failing by a little, finding out I failed via text from a friend, etc).

Just want to get it over with already.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does "scaled" mean exactly?

When I look at this site http://www.law.berkeley.edu/files/BarPr ... .23.08.pdf, it tells me:

"TOTAL RAW MBE: 128 TOTAL
Scaled MBE 1440"

I don't get why your friend's "scaled" score is a 150, but a "scaled" score on the Berkeley website is something in the thousands. Again, excuse my ignorance.

Try this one for a better idea of what a raw MBE score (from 0-190) will translate into (40.4-199.9). That's the "scale." Each state and each individual bar exam will have a different "raw" to "scaled" curve, but it's a decent starting point for an estimate.

The national MBE sets the scale. A few states further fuck around with it, but the vast majority don't.

Where do you find this info? I just saw that I passed, but haven't seen any of my scores.

That really sucks. I thought I was going to be in the same boat because I didn't do many practice essays.

Exactly my thoughts. Whenever I try and calculate my score, I plug in 55 for each

From reading the thread, a bunch of states give you a score breakdown if you fail (and no breakdown if you pass).

Ah, thanks. That makes sense.

The wait "kills" everyone... the best way I coped was I completely put getting results out of my mind until May 1st ( I took the California bar in February) ...So it seemed like I really only had a 3 week wait as results came out the 3rd week in May... it sounds crazy but it worked for me

So at this site http://one-timers.com/calculate-your-fi ... exam-grade, are we supposed to put the real raw raw score? Or do we put the, for example, 150 scaled score that your friend got.
real raw out of 190

What if my scaled score for Barbri's MBE mid-term was only 100?

I am awful at multiple choice questions : (
I know someone who got a 79 on the MBE midterm and a 136 scaled on the barzam
Wow that beats me. Got low 80s on the midterm and a 134.5 scaled on the bar exam.

Nah breh. For all you know they send em out by last name, bar exam number, zip code, sign up date, or some other listserv organization. Also, is your address correctly on file? I missed something from the CO bar b/c I didn't update my address.

My intern has passed the bar, and I still won't know for another 3-4 weeks (NY). So now intern and I have constant conversations where I freak out and she tells me I will pass and we will drink at work, and I imagine sitting in my office studying for the bar again. I've just never felt so bad after taking a test before, and the stakes have never been so high. Granted, my job does not require the bar, and future jobs probably won't either, but I wouldn't go to law school and not be able to practice law.

I should have studied more and followed the paced program.
