Do you want to be a lawyer? Actually, step back, do you know what lawyers do?

What are your plans for the summer? If its legal related and you hate it, I really suggest not going back in the fall.. it does not get a lot better.

It is a legit question... After 1L classes I seriously had no idea what to expect. Firm practice, and the rank and file work you do is not really like the theory-oriented stuff in LS. Grades are not an issue, but if he literally hates what will await him after graduation at the end of the summer, why keep going?

Your grades probably won't preclude you from finding some kind of legal job. And your debt is reasonable enough that you NEED BIGLAW, which seems to be out of reach. But this seems like credited advice if you want to be a lawyer.

this is a question probably best answered by your career services office. but the more fundamental question is what do you want to do with your law degree? the longer you stay in law, the more likely you'll be able to make the investment pay off from a ROI standpoint. but lots of law grads get discouraged, leave law, and then join other careers where they are paid less.

of course it all depends on lots of factors unrelated to law school. are your parents/family wealthy? do you have business connections (eg in real estate) where potential employers would like to see that you have a law degree? are you taking over a family business where a law degree would be useful? much of future income is dependent on these types of factors rather than a straightforwrad average salary analysis.
