Really dumb question about an open book test

Postby notcool » Wed May 15, 2013 4:17 pm

If the syllabus for a class says there will be no restriction on the written or printed materials that may be used during the test, does this mean we're allowed to bring in supplements and commercial outlines to use during the test? I know this is a dumb question but I've never had a completely open-book test before in law school

Yes, but if you need to use them you're in trouble

This.

I had some profs that explicitly forbid them in an otherwise open-everything test. Never understood why they cared. If you are glancing through your 500 page Emmanuel Civ Pro book on test day, you're fucked.

That's what I love about open-book exams. They're a trap for the unwary.

Truth. I don't think I have opened a casebook or hornbook during an exam.
