I keep getting around somewhere between 40 and 50 out of 60 (43, 45, 48 and 50 on the 4 barbri practices).

out of 60.

I believe that's correct, and if you're consistently scoring between 40 and 50 you are more than set. I only saw 3 barbri practice tests though?

Can we not bring backpacks to the testing center? Or is it that we just wouldn't be allowed to go into it during the test (which is why I guess you need a clear plastic bag)?

Apparently no backpacks or electronic devices, including your phone.

Damn. Anyone else that can confirm this?

I mean, my phone I'm just going to put on airplane mode / turn off.

The e-mail says:
Prohibited Items

Do not bring any electronic items, including a cell phone to the test center. You will be dismissed immediately, and your score may be cancelled if found in possession of such items. Watches are also prohibited at the test center.

You may bring into the testing room a clear plastic ziplock bag (maximum size: 1 gallon/3.79 liters) containing ONLY the following items: valid ID, wallet, keys, car key fob (provided it does not feature a data port), hygiene/medical products, no. 2 (soft lead) pencils, erasers, pencil sharpener, unwrapped cough drops, and tissues. All items must fit in the bag so it can be stored under the chair.

I would like to bring in several hundred tissues and a bottle of prescription moisturizer just to make them suspicious.

Or even worse, a car key fob with, gasp, a data port!

Somebody at LSAC saw The Matrix and is convinced you can interface with a USB drive.

Or wrapped cough drops. Seriously, who walks around with unwrapped cough drops? Shit is uncivilized and unsanitary.

I thought you were doing solid 75% plus? If so, you're fine. 85 is the goal.

I am a little confused. If 10 of the 60 questions tomorrow are experimental, should I be aiming for higher than 38 on the Barbri practice exams? It sounds like you need 38 or so out of 50 on the actual thing to pass . . .

I think that you need somewhere around 55%-60% maybe for an 85, which would be somewhere around 34/35 for 60 questions, but obviously less if only 50 are counted.

Florida is 80, TYBG

39/60 on the practice test, that will pass me, right? Why is this so difficult for me to comprehend.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this: is it just me, or is this Barbri guy intolerable? His stupid little jokes. I just want him to teach me rapid-fire, not hear about The Honeymooners or how stupid lay people are!

I guess I shouldn't be too hard on him, though, since he's the only one keeping me company in these dark, dark hours before the test...

Here is the latest data I found on the raw score one might need to achieve a passing scaled score in his or her jurisdiction.

Per Susan M. Case, PhD (Director of Testing for the National Conference of Bar Examiners) in a March 2011 column entitled "Common Goals with Increasingly Similar Outcomes: Jurisdiction Approaches to Bar Exam Grading, Scoring, and Standards":

While there is some variability from one administration to the next, a score of 100 reflects a performance of approximately 68 percent correct. The current standards used by jurisdictions reflect lower performance levels: 85 is approximately 60 percent correct; 80 is approximately 58 percent correct; 75 is approximately 56 percent correct. The difference between an 85 and an 86, for example, is less than one question.

Source: http://www.ncbex.org/assets/media_files ... Column.pdf (See p. 3 "MPRE Passing Standard")

Raw | Scaled Score Conversion according to NCBEX's Director of Testing is approximately:
56% Raw (28/50) = 75 Scaled
58% Raw (29/50) = 80 Scaled
60% Raw (30/50) = 85 Scaled
68% Raw (34/50) = 100 Scaled

I guess that's why Barbri recommends the 32%-38% range to be safe because it probably puts a test taker above the scaled score of 86--the most any jurisdiction requires. I broke down the raw numbers out of 50 since 10 of the questions on the MPRE are experimental.

For those of us who studied with MPRE practice exams, this might give us an idea of how our raw percentages convert to scaled scores (approximately, at least). I hope this helps.

I love how this BarBri video actually has the 10-minute breaks included. We have a pause button, dooders.

I kinda like it. It's like a movie intermission!

My end game strategy is just to go over this video outline. Probably would have helped more if I bothered filling the damn thing out...

I feel like I should have taken more practice tests (that is, at least one).

Just did 12 quick questions to get into the swing before the test. Got six correct.

Let's do this thing.

post-exam eta;

I'd call it 50/50 as to whether I got the score I wanted.
