So for all of you who are flipping out, 60% will pass you in all jxs (I think CA may be an 86)

I believe the highest score necessary across the US is 87. If you're really shady, I think West Virginia only requires like a 65.

FYI on the MPRE's website:

*Note: August 2013 scores will be posted on September 17, 2013. If you sat for the August MPRE and need to register for the November 2013 administration, you may register before the September 26 late registration deadline and request that the late fee portion of your registration fee be refunded to you. Requests should be made by sending an e-mail to MPREinfo@Lsac.org. Please include your NCBE number in the request. The late fee will only be refunded if you sat for the August 2013 MPRE and did not receive the required score for your jurisdiction.

Thank god. I was really annoyed that I'd have to pay a late fee.

Anyone know if you take November if it holds up anything with NY at all? August was the third time I took it absolutely COLD and I'm convinced I might be one of the few who have failed three times. I got an 82 the first time and an 83 last time. FUCK.

1st time, hurricane sandy moved the exam right into finals time. Didn't have time to. 2nd time, RANDOMLY had my final trial for trial ad on the same day in the afternoon. Had no idea and couldn't change it. Me and another dude got fucked. This August, I had it after the bar exam and I was exhausted.

Just need to know if anyone has experience passing it in November and then being admitted without delay.

that was over two weeks after the bar, come on dude

practically speaking it shouldn't make much difference because the earliest you can get sworn in is like february, but i wouldn't want to be the person telling my firm i had to be sure to have a saturday free because i had failed the mpre three times

I mean, thanks for your input on this. But I already took it three times so it's not like there's anything I can do at this point to not be "the person telling my firm i had to be sure to have a saturday free because i had failed the mpre three times."

Bar exam kills you and I went back to work the next day. Didn't have a lot of time to study.

No matter what, you need to sit down and think long and hard about how the exam is structured. You should be able to nearly guess your way to an 80+ just with basic human morals. People fail for all sorts of reasons, sure (no sleep, bad day, etc)...but not many fail a second time. I'm willing to bet you're either answering the questions too quickly without really considering all the angles, reading too much into the questions, or making excessive assumptions.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but I'd hate to see you fail a fourth time. I wouldn't just assume your failures were situational do to your tough luck with scheduling. Unlike the bar, there aren't that many rules you can really memorize for the mpre. (You could pass knowing maybe 15 rules, plus 3-4 rules for judicial ethics. Most people memorize them over 1-2 days and do a few practice questions to see how they are applied and how deep the assumptions are that you should make.) It's all about identifying which rules govern which situation.

FWIW, I skimmed the barbri outline and did maybe 50-75 barbri practice questions and scored a 135+. Some of the questions were nearly verbatim from the barbri ones. There are only so many ways to test the basic scenarios that come up.

- A refuses to return a file
- A want to do business with C in addition to representation
- A wants to run a side business and not have the ethics rules apply
- A wants to represent C1 and C2
- A1 represents C1 and A2 represents C2
- Etc.

Thanks for your help man. I appreciate it. I think you're right. Hopefully I passed in August and can LOL about this. But I'm pretty confident if I study even one day for the November one, I would pass. When I say I didn't study, I mean that I've never looked at an outline, never listened to a lecture, never did a practice.

I'm just concerned (and the joke is obviously on me and 100% my fault) about the delay, if any, if I take the November.

September 16th, maybe 17th? I'm not sure exactly but you'll know in less than a week.

I think the website says the 17th, although I am getting anxious for my results. This is the second time I took the test, and I've already graduated. I do not want to have to take this a third time, and delay getting sworn in to the bar (if I pass that).

Not to be a dick or anything, but do you mind if I ask how much you studied? I've heard (on here and from others) that you can study for like five hours and pass this test. So I figured I'd go beyond that to make sure I pass and study for most of the weekend before the test and review the night before. Does that strategy sound good?

I winged it the first time (got an 83, need an 86). I went over the barbri book this time and did their three practice tests. I don't know how many hours that was, but it was a couple hours a day over the course of a week.

My strategy was this:

(1) 2 weeks before, enrolled in BARBRI and Kaplan; began reading the minireviews during breaks at work (not a lot)

(2) Weekend before: Watched BARBRI vid and read minireviews amidst housework and taking care of errands.

(3) Week before: Did a buttload of the BARBRI practice questions on my iPhone, usually during my summer job when we had slow/down time. Took 2 Kaplan PT; 2 BARBRI PT.

I will update/delete this post once I get my score here. I studied a lot b/c I am NOT good at law school multiple choice and knew that the "dood just 5 hrs and your good" thing would not work out for me.

I certainly wouldn't mind knowing tonight either. The sooner results come in, the better.

Indeed. I think they should just release scaled scores as they become available, instead of releasing them all on one day. I'm sure there is a gap between when scores are ready and when they are actually released. It would certainly keep the NCBEX site from crashing.
